“Take on tylo”, I like that, I guess since tylo is around the same size as kerbin, therefore having the same gravity, I suppose it’s a great place to live! (Except that it has no atmosphere, or water, so you would probably be better off on laythe but let’s ignore that.)

IDEA: You probably won't see this, but a recharging rover might be fun. The rover does not have a good or any source of getting electricity. So it has to make stops at a small garage that recharges it and protects it from the elements. The base/garage could also work as a relay for the rover. I think this world work best on Duna since it has dust storms.

Those tall tripod lights... I have been able to place these without falling over - its tricky and only works on a really level surface. A tip for anyone watching this video 2 years later (like me) Don't disable torque on rover reaction wheels, set them to SAS only and set SAS to stability control, it'll make the rover stay upright really well without interfering with driving I've tried swerving rovers at 30m/s+ with this setup, and the SAS totally handles it, no flipping

My question is, why let the trolly thing that brings the base to the surface just fly off? That trolly is a perfectly fine potential satellite or extra building even! After landing the base you could put a probe on the trolly and bring it either to orbit as a communication satellite or bring it to the surface as a second building.

I do like a good base video, and this video certainly is that. :) The description of this base describes how I like to build in general; bases which have everything, ships which do everything, a _ranger_ which is essentially a roving base with rockets and lots of delta-v, and SSTOs which... cause me infinite pain and never get finished! XD It's been quite a new way of thinking for me to build smaller SSTOs, such as one designed solely as a Laythe orbital shuttle and, when that didn't quite work, I added a nuclear engine and turned it into a Laythe-Kerbin surface to surface transport.

Would love to see your take on a fully reusable rover with the arm(like the mini rover in the garage but you could relaunch and drop it somewhere else on a planet) I'm going with a fully reusable program based loosely on NASA's artamis style of things but with a all in one style of reusable refueler, station, lander, survey and com sats. With a crew and cargo interplanetary shuttle for doing almost all career missions with assets already in place. It's just getting a rover back and forth to orbit is an arse.
