I loved this episode, one of your best without a doubt, the cinematography (if that's the word) was incredible and I loved the narrative style. I agree that every episode shouldn't be like this, it's obviously a lot of work and not every episodes events really warrant it, but I think doing these styles of episodes for the big events, like if you set up a Mars Base for example, would be awesome. Although make sure to balance them so you don't give yourself too much to do! I am in university myself (3rd year) and so I have some idea of the work load you are getting, so don't make more work than you think is worth it :)

Master Carnasa, one tutorial that I think would be highly appreciated at least from my side would be how do you make such awesome cinematic footage. Leave no detail unsaid: mods (i assume camera tools), but settings, what do they mean, how do you record them, is mechjeb in control while you do it etc etc
@Carnasa3 жыл бұрын
This might actually be a cool tutorial to do, and I could definitely think of a few points to talk about! But to answer what you’ve said so far, camera tools definitely :p record everything through OBS, edited in resolve, and mechjeb is pretty much always in control yeah, I use a few tricks too that I could probably go into, like the landing was actually just different shots of the vessel taking off reversed in editing, because losing the ui on a mars landing is pretty much impossible :p
@Augustus0873 жыл бұрын
Incredible, Carnasa! It's too bad the moon hopper got messed up. Given that these kerbonauts are engineers, perhaps a fix can be made. Kerbal Engineering perhaps, or a narrator-driven fix (ie, telelport a new lander there and just say they were able to fix it.) It does not make sense to me that the CO2 remover would break as it's parts are fairly hardy and they are well within the inside of any craft. It's just filters and a fan. Cut up the cover of the flight plan, man, and use some duct tape!

Who in the Hell wants to be in a bunch of beer cans for 2-4yrs+??? Before you go to Mars, build a real space station. I mean a real monolith of a space station. This way there's plenty of resources. Remember this ain't a camping trip to the woods.
@44R0Ndin3 жыл бұрын
You don't build space stations like buildings, because you have to move all that mass to orbit first. You build them like aircraft, but lighter. So, tin cans it is. Unless of course you want to design a centrifugal habitat that can also handle being pushed around by a nuclear thermal rocket, which I mean there's a few ideas out there for it, but it's gonna be heavier than the "tin cans" approach. And we've already proven that humans can stay in space for over a year at a time without losing bone or muscle mass to the point that they're not fit enough to land back on Earth, so the whole need for a centrifuge in the first place is avoided. The name of the game in space is "every gram counts" in other words, if you don't absolutely need it and it's not fuel or life support consumables, you throw it away or better yet don't even bring it with you in the first place.
@Carnasa3 жыл бұрын
I mean This space station. Is almost 4x the mass of the international space station, so it’s not exactly a basha, it’s more a marquee with running water and electricity, and central heating if you want to go along the camping analogy. I don’t know the volume of the station but I’m sure it’s quite roomy inside for the six Kerbals :p It’s taken 30 launches of a rocket with a rocket almost twice the payload capability of the Saturn V, and three launches of a rocket FIVE TIMES the payload capability of the Saturn V to get this to Mars, so it’s not been a small job :p Also if I were to make this any larger my pc would probably implode and create a tear in the fabric of space time. I’d rather not that happen as then I’d need to redecorate my study.
