Another month, another mission! I'm back with a mission to the outer solar system, with Uranus's moon Oberon as our target. Far future tech, especially with the fusion engine, makes so much stuff possible - the travel time to Uranus was just over a year! Building the base on Oberon was really fun with the new Parallax 2.0 update - it really added a lot to the depth and detail around the base. The dual booster landing, and in general making the rocket reusable was really fun. Getting that dual booster shot was awesome when I was filming it. This was really fun to record, I hope you enjoy it! Also, seriously go check out Vyssion's music, it's really, really good.
Kerbal Space Program 1.12.3
Mods (nonexhaustive list):
Real Solar System (obvious)
Realism Overhaul (makes things more realistic and difficult)
PRVE (RSS visuals)
TUFX (postprocessing, Ballisticfox's configs)
Parallax 2.0 (custom-made configs, and no I'm not releasing them)
Far Future Technologies (fusion engine and related parts)
Near Future Technologies
Stockalike Station Parts Expansion Redux
Planetside Exploration Technologies (ground base parts)
Cryo Tanks
Procedural Parts
Kerbal Reusability Expansion (landing legs for launch vehicle)
Persistent Thrust (using time warp with engines on)
Persistent Thrust Navigator (navigation for long-duration burns)
Booster Guidance (booster landing)
Camera Tools (advanced camera movement)
I created and modified many configs and mods for this mission. Do not expect your own install to behave the same way.
00:00 Orbital construction of main ship
04:27 Transfer to Oberon
06:28 Base construction and surface ops
10:57 Return to Earth
Music:
Immortal - Geoff Knorr
Red And Blue - Vyssion (open.spotify.com/album/5o35o1...)
Hostile Fleet Detected - Andreas Waldetoft
In Memory of Mercedes Romero - Andreas Waldetoft
Do not reupload this video in full or in part on other platforms without my written consent.

Incredible spacecraft, cinematics and mission! How'd you do the transfer from Earth to Uranus? Was the engine efficient enough for a continuous burn or just really long injection/insertion burns? I have yet to find any guides or software for doing fast transfers with super-low-power engines, but the engines in FFT are practically built for it.
@EntropianVFX
@EntropianVFX Жыл бұрын
Thank you! The engine was more than efficient enough for the mission, but its thrust was high enough that a continuous burn would not have made sense; you're spot on with long injection/escape burns, they were a few weeks long for each one I think. I used PersistentThrustNavigator (bugfixed and improved SolarSailNavigator) to plan out burns.

The best KSP builder I have ever watched! May I ask a few quick questions? What mods/setting did you use to make everything go in a certain path? Such as the boosters, or line ups with the cargo/items to connect, I am intrigued to find out. Also, I know I am a pain, but may I know the engines and fuel tanks you used to make all of what I call cargo go into orbit? I am a new player and so as a start I want to learn what are the best engines/fuel tanks to use in order to orbit cargo such as yours. If you can answer even just 1 of these questions that would be so awesome! Keep up the AMAZING content!
@EntropianVFX
@EntropianVFX Жыл бұрын
Not a pain at all! I'm glad to get questions like this. The booster flyback and landing was done with the mod "Booster Guidance" alongside Mechjeb and SmartParts to initialize the initial boostback autonomously. I also used a combination of manual control and Mechjeb for docking (Mechjeb's docking guidance is notoriously inefficient). I used Near Future Launch Vehicles for the majority of the launch vehicle (engine mount, fuel tanks, engines, etc.) The engines were methalox - which is not the most efficient fuel but it's very dense, so a given fuel tank mass can contain a much larger fuel mass than, say, hydrolox. However, this stuff about fuel types and such really only applies to Realism Overhaul and not stock KSP. When I first started playing (2012), I just kept trying out different things until I found what worked xD, I just recommend taking a look at other stockish players' craft and try to integrate their principles into your own, while learning from them of course. Thank you!

@@EntropianVFX Sorry for the 5 - 6 hour delayed message, I am pretty good at noticing when people respond. Anyway, so according to your comment, the mod was "Booster Guidance", so your going to hate me, but I don't know how to get mods. I need these 3 mods, "Booster Guidance", "Eve", and and the third one allows you to see how much fuel you need to get to orbit, or how much fuel you need to get to Mars/Duna. I believe in one of your videos to perhaps Saturn, not quite sure, all I know is that in one of your videos I saw you using that mod along with other professional KSP players. Since I am new to this game, measuring the amount of velocity, weight, fuel, etc. I need to reach the moon, or planets is hard. So if you could please try to figure out what the third mod is. If you could get all 3 you would be a life saver. Eve is the second one I mentioned, I think you also use it allows you to have everything look 5x more realistic, not required, the other 2 are definitely going to be a big few for future ideas. I tend to want to make challenges for myself in future such as going to Mars, Mar's 2 moons "Phobos" and "Deimos", and then back to Earth safely all in 1 flight. I also want to make space stations that will contain a certain number of rocket's which are also rocket parts in which can connect to make 1 big rocket to then go to other space stations to just keep making refuels, bigger rockets while not in the hanger, etc. So yeah, I am new to the game, young in age, but I am still fascinated for future ideas/creations. If you could do me 1 thing, it would be SO HELPFUL, can you link the 3 mods that I mentioned, or at least the "Booster Guidance" and the 3rd one I talked about for a while? You would be a life changer if so, most youtubers ignore or give me the opposite information in which I asked for, hopefully you will be the first. Thank you again for even taking time to responding to my comment, highly unexpected. Keep up your amazing content! 1 BEST KSP PLAYER EVER! P.S, I think that in some situations, you're smarter than Nasa and/or Space X employees.
@EntropianVFX
@EntropianVFX Жыл бұрын
@@IGL_AlexanderI recommend using CKAN to download and install mods. It automates the installation and makes the process much smoother. The third mod you speak of is likely Kerbal Engineer Redux (KER). It gives delta-V readouts along with much more. Booster Guidance, EVE, and KER are all available in CKAN - you can go to the forum thread for installation instructions and such: forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/197082-ckan-the-comprehensive-kerbal-archive-network-v1310-ikaros/ Thank you for the praise - I appreciate it but I’m really not the best KSP player around, many other players have my skillset and then some. I’m just a random guy who makes KSP cinematics xD, I have nowhere near the expertise and knowledge that NASA, SpaceX, and in general astronautical-related workers have! @@EntropianVFX everything about your comments are a chef's kiss but I still don't quite understand how to get the 3 mods. I see the link, just when I click it's like I went from a field of planes to Mount Everest. If you could possibly help me know how to actually get the mods, or lead me with steps? I know it may take time but just know I really appreciate you either way.

The orbit station is feasable. All it takes is the Newton inertia law of property foundation, the *first infastructer* vessel *must manage* a *gyroscopitic* engine/device, since a *Molecular Polarity Chamber* isn't invented yet ( as artificial gravity🤫).
