Tip for making those orion solar panels: Place them in 6-way symmetry and click "remove from symmetry" on two of them, and remove them entirely. that way you get 4 panels in realistic angles

For Xbox players or people without 1.11, for 5-way RCS use a normal RCS block and add a small one in the middle. Edit: Also, for the LES (launch escape system) you can use a small fairing and put it under the capsule and have a decoupler below and above it. Just use another fairing for the rest of the covered parts. Hope this helps!

Use the smaller radial decouplers so that the srbs sit closer to the fuel tank

tbh the reason I don't is because it's harder to tell if the SRB's are attached to the fuel tank or the decoupler with the smaller ones.

I think that the pollux or the kickback boosters with a mk1 fuselage work well with that tank but I understand that the Clydesdale boosters are the shuttle boosters so your sls is functionally accurate

@@Arae_1 ok, a procedural part is a part which you can directly manipulate to change it's width, shape, height, volume, and a whole host of other things. Variables change of course between each part, whether you're building a propellant tank or a wing for example.

I would go with a compact poodle on the upper stage, and then a Cheetah on the Orion engine. But, sure, go ahead.

the reason I did not go with a poodle is because the upper stage starts skinny, then expands up. Since the poodle is 2.5m, I would have expanded it at least 3m to get the scaling right. That would have meant that the rocket would have barely gotten skinnier from the orange tanks...

I use 5m parts when building sls because the srbs look better with 5m parts. Sadly they can’t be orange in stock

Well then you can't use the mammoth engine as it is the engine made for the SLS from the making history dlc. It is true that the srbs would look better though

Well you are in luck because originally the first stage of SLS wasn’t orange it was the good old stock white! So you can say it was the original model

@@sejithe5th Actually, the engine cluster you're talking about didn't come from the Making History DLC. It was there from KSP 1.0 . And while the mammoth engine is based on the SLS RS-25 cluster, I find making a custom shroud as @MK245 does creates a better and more accurate aesthetic , as the SLS does not have black stripes near it's RS-25s, just white.

It makes the attachment more rigid, so the piece won't wobble around in flight. It has pros/ cons. The biggest problem is that it makes things fall off easier because they can't move around to absorb energy. This is especially a problem with fairings or wings on planes

I wish KSP had Orange 5 meter tanks because the Making History 5m tanks are closer to accurate proportions for an SLS rocket. Also, it would make more sense if there were a 3.75 meter capsule, because that is closer to the approximate diameter the Orion capsule would be in KSP proportions. There is literally a 3.75 meter heat shield, why no size 3 capsule? I haven't seen any mods that add 3.75 meter Orion capsules. There is reDIRECT that adds a 3.125 meter Orion capsule, but it is 3.125m, not 3.75m, so it is a bit small and kind of hard to use. There is also a mod I saw that adds a CST-100 Starliner style 3.75 meter command pod, but it is based off of the Starliner, which is closer in size to the Apollo capsule and would make more sense as a 2.5 meter part. GUESS I'LL HAVE TO DO IT MYSELF
