The song and MV are based on the book Demian by Herman Hesse. Sinclair is the main character, Jin plays Sinclair and it would seem that V either represents Demian distorting Sinclair's perception of good and evil OR V represents a part of Sinclair, himself where Sinclair gives in to the God Abraxas (a God of both good and evil). Either way, the song is trying to demonstrate temptation and the struggle with identifying good and evil in oneself on the journey from boyhood to adulthood. Every track on the album has something to do with the book, so it's good to get acquainted with it! It's a short (109 page) read! Bless you guys!! 😂

iwillhowl​​​​​ Rap Monster did confirm that the album is entirely based around the book, saying B, S, & T was about "temptation". Having read the book, myself - I could outline each and every similarity one by one but honestly there's too many! I'll just name a few... *German Nietzsche quote* above the picture Jin stares at - Sinclair's mentor Pistorius mentions Nietzsche at least twice in his philosophical discussions with Sinclair. The quote is "One must have chaos within oneself to give birth to a dancing star." The painting that Jin is stating deeply at is depicting a fight between heaven and hell. *The statue* is definitely symbolic of the God Abraxas - though because it's personal to Jin /Sinclair in the MV I think it's Demian because that's one physical representation of Abraxas to Sinclair in the book. *JHope shoots the arrow* and in the book there's a passage about that also where Sinclair says something hurtful to Pistorius and it "shot him like an arrow to the heart and he felt it right away." *Suga on the organ* what lures Sinclair to Pistious in the first place is the sound of an organ being played inside of a church where Sinclair started going by every evening and sitting just outside to listen until one day following him to a nearby tavern afterwards and befriending Pistorious by complimenting his music and name dropping "Abraxas" which Pistorius is familiar with. *The passage from the book* that Rapmon reads comes out of the first story in the book talking about Demian also being a link to the dark realm and Sinclair's struggle with the temptation of that realm which pretty much sums up the lyrics and MV right there. I outlined every significance in the entire album in a blog on the BTS amino. My username is ⭐─the muse─⭐
