God I miss the old KSTW 11 network, I was saddened that they've gotten rid of that channel back in the mid 1990s

When I hear and see this it brings back so many memories and feelings of what a magical and blessed time it was to be alive in Tacoma Washinton in 1977

Thank you for the kind words, and I'm glad you are enjoying the clips. They are sourced from Betamax, U-Matic, and VHS recordings that I've both found and transferred myself, as well as those found and transferred by other friends

I remember in the early 1980s, they were also "Good Lookin' 11!" I miss the old independent stations. They're all affiliated with CW or Fox now, and as tkaye2 said, they aren't what they used to be.

During the 1970s, I spent many hours of my childhood in Victoria, BC watching KSTW, KIRO, KOMO and KING TV from Seattle (thankfully we had "cablevision"). Your KZbin channel is just GREAT!! Thanks so much for hundreds of postings that bring back a lot of fun memories ("Monster Zero" was, unintentionally, one of the funniest Sci-Fi theater features ever!). Do you mind me asking, where did you get all this amazing video from these pre-VHS days?? Thanks again, robatsea2009!!

A fellow Victorian checking in: Does anyone remember Bellingham's KVOS cartoons, Friskie (Frisky?) Frolics and Funorama. I recall one of the jingles, but not the other.

@@mariewoodruff1995 Hi Marie, I remember Frisky and Funorama on Ch. 12 - one of them was on every weekday afternoon at 4pm. And, like you, I remember one of the jingles but not the other - were they possibly the same?

I didn't realize this, but Sony's good old U-Matic video recording system began in 1971. Your channel is the best!

@SopranosFan777 Not technically, but you could say it was a regional superstation. Cable systems as far away as Spokane and Portland picked up KSTW. Channel 11 didn't get the rights to the Mariners until '82... KING-TV carried the few games that were televised during their first five years.

TV lost a lot when the independent stations sold out to become movie company-owned networks...a lot of them didn't last very long in that "new" format.

like I said the CW isn't stupid one of the new shows is The Tomorrow People it had been a hit in England you might want to look it up on Wikipedia another new show is Reign about Mary, Queen of Scots so the CW isn't stupid they got good shows plus The Carrie Diaries is returning it's about the young Carrie Bradshaw before Sex and the City
