I’d love to know what you’ve done to the engine! Have you all thought about making a video on it? I think it would be super beneficial to other Kayo owners looking to get the most out of their bike
@MudAndDustMoto Жыл бұрын
In this video the bikes are actually stock, i was mis informed. I have done more recent videos where i talk a bit about the modifications on my personal bike. Its a basic recipe. Boyesen reeds, intake spacer, ktm 200 pipe, skimmed head to bump up the compression. The kt250 community on facebook is great and these mods have been well documented by multiple members. With all that being said, i will gladly do another video going through everything.

One question, does the YZ pipe fit into the exhaust port or were mods made on that end?
@MudAndDustMoto2 жыл бұрын
The YZ pipe’s flange needs to be modified. I would rather go for a KTM 200 pipe, the YZ pipe is over-chambered for the kayo’s 224cc motor

@MudAndDustMoto2 жыл бұрын
Yeah thats the target market for the 2t. it feels good not sure what weight it is though. Would be interesting to see if a traction disc makes an improvement.

Does it feel like an actual 250 Two stroke?
@MudAndDustMoto2 жыл бұрын
Its a 230cc, not sure why they decided to call it the KT250😅 Its got a bit less torque than a 250 but i have no issue keeping up with 250,300,350cc bikes. Suppose it feels like a ktm200 or kdx220
@bikersoncall2 жыл бұрын
Is this the same as the Kayo KT-250? Was this test with mods or without? I think you said it is actually 300cc, but obviously not a typical brand name 300cc 2t. Using your link, there is no KT250.
@MudAndDustMoto2 жыл бұрын
The RR300 i mentioned is a 300cc fourstroke that i had for long term testing last year. The twostroke in the video is the KT250 as per the title. the test bikes in the video have been modified with a base plate to improve the port timing and a machined barrel to get the deck hight back to spec, and a yz250 expansion chamber. I was misinformed about the compression ratios, both of the bikes are still 6:5:1 compression like stock. It seems like they have not updated their website with the new models.

What did it take to fit the bigger pipe?
@MudAndDustMoto2 жыл бұрын
They used the flange and about 5cm from the stock pipe, and the tail end on the yz250 pipe had to be bent and cut to match up to the silencer. We did gain quite a bit of power but the yz250 pipe is over chambered, eventually we will get a cone pipe made that is tuned for optimum performance

@@MudAndDustMoto what about jetting for that pipe? Curious what you all had to do. Looks like it was a huge improvement
@MudAndDustMoto2 жыл бұрын
@@mrstriegel574 well its quite a bit more than the pipe that was changed, but all the work yielded great results. They installed a thicker base gasket spacer to utilize the whole boost port, then machined to top of the barrel to bump up the compression. With these mods the bike feels good even with the stock pipe, i will see if i can do a back to back test to see what difference the pipe makes. I will verify the exact dimensions of the spacer and the amount machined as well as the jetting. They are also planning to do porting and some head work to further bump up the compression.

I get that people don't trust or like the China bikes but if you actually knew what parts on your Japanese bikes were made in China or the aftermarket parts, than you may not be so quick to judge. KTM has an engine completely made in China. Even the Japanese sub out a lot of their parts to China.

@MudAndDustMoto2 жыл бұрын
I was misinformed at the time i made the vid, it just had the modded pipe and no head work. Main issue i found with the bottom end was actually simple, the float level was way off causing the bike to run lean. Its got some boyesen reeds and a high comp head and it runs much much better.

It’s always 20% bike 80% rider .. much more fun and faster to ride a slow bike fast , than to ride a fast bike slow .. it’s like guys they buy a 4 stroke to get into mx racing and just flat suckkk… take a real 125cc rider and put them on a 250f (4stroke) and watch them get bored very quickly but yet watch how fast they get around the track lol 😅 it almost feels like cheating .. I know from experience trust me (or don’t ) lol I don’t care lol .. ride fast and ride safe guys !
