What surprises me is the lack of preparation by most people in the Southern California area. We have everything prepared at work, in our cars and at home. Go bags for each animal. Lots of water, solar phone chargers, generator, extra meds, food, etc. And plans with several neighbors in case any of us are elsewhere and a big one hits and we are not home for our animals. Lastly, cash. $1's, $5's and $10's. And full tanks of gas. When it hits a half tank, I fill it up. And have enough separately in cash as one might have to travel a bit. Even when I was living in a condo or apartment, we were covered. One person thinks flashlights and water are "being prepared." We want to be the ones helping others and not ones requiring assistance. Checked with my group of elderly neighbors to make sure they are ok. And helped them be prepared as well.

I’m in Monterey Park an bed the earthquake felt really hard. My house rattled and shaked for a few seconds and it was loud. I was about to duck under my table. I’m 26 and it was my first time really feeling an earthquake and being scared for a moment.

My family lived in southern Cali for awhile with other family in the bay area. This is a fart in the wind. During a bad earthquake in Richmond my aunts pool water landed on her house over the course of 5 or so minutes. Also felt an earthquake on the east coast. A lot different experience, up down and done. No shaking just made it weird.

That's pretty much how it is, isn't it? Once you've lived through a couple of 7's (like I have), something like this is enough to get you to stop and wait to see if it will get worse, and then when it doesn't you go back to what you were doing. Then check the USGS site to see what it was and where.

Yeah that's what it's like! Nothing like I expected it to be. I was in one in chicago years back, and that's what it felt like in my apartment. I live close to railroad tracks so I couldn't tell if it was due to a train passing or not. But it felt like the whole apartment was swaying slightly.

Scared me shitless. My nerves are bad now. I’m from Biloxi, Mississippi. Where we don’t have earthquakes. I’m a Katrina survivor, seen tornadoes, bad thunderstorms, natural disasters that you can prepare for. To be watching tv on my day off and out of nowhere the earth moves without warning ⚠️ I don’t like that one bit. Felt it here in Downtown my apartment that’s seven stories in the air. The building rocked back and forth pretty hard. Tv, table, cabinets etc open shifted and moved. Even my WiFi service tower unplugged from the wall and hit the ground. Thank God it didn’t shatter. One of my neighbors on the seventh floor the window fell all the way down to the second floor. That was a hard shake. 4.4 near Highland Park, Pasadena. Had been stronger than a 4.4.

Weird, my psychic-listener brother had just texted me an hour ago saying between August 18-23 there will be a huge earthquake followed by a Tsunami starting in Bangladesh. I live in a tsunami area on the Pacific Coast and he wants me to practice getting the dogs in the car knowing I would not leave them behind.
