OMG. This is why the media LOVES airplane crashes. They're rare and the media can sensationalize the hell out of them. Car accidents are multiple times a day. Probably hundreds. The roads are carnage. Not even worth reporting on, unless a lot of people die and/or, it's especially grisly. I literally took my first flight when I was three months old, been doing it ever since, for decades. Civilian, military, big planes, little planes, experimental planes. Not a scratch. It seems these return to airport crashes should be looked into. Possibly the procedure during a loss of power should be to lower the nose to gain speed and then level off and find a clear landing area ahead of you and beware of the180 degree turn at low altitude. It looks like a base to final stall. The airplane was close to a 90° bank but the nose was not that low. The buildings and railroad tracks run more or less parallel to the north of the runway. Runway 24 at Fullerton uses right hand traffic.

These small planes crash all the time. I don't know why everyone is surprised when they do. It's almost inevitable that they will crash. They crash all over the place here in Florida. I don't know what is going on with these small aircraft, but a lot of them are not air worthy as evidenced by the numerous crashes. Seems like one crashes every few days. If no one sees this as a problem, it's fine with me... I don't fly in them.
