It has been 35 years since Erik and Lyle Menéndez shot their parents inside their Beverly Hills home. So, was it motivated by greed or years of sexual abuse at the hands of their parents. The brother’s attorney say the trial was rigged to hand the L.A. DA a win after losing the O.J. Simpson trial.
Mary Beth McDade reports on Sept. 19, 2024.

They need to change the laws on emotional and mental abuse towards kids and people. There needs to be more resources for this . Not saying killing anyone is right .. but if they had the support they needed to get away from their parents, they might have never killed anyone .

I’m 69 years old and have been on this earth in the midst of a lot of history in the LA area. Honestly the more I learn about this case the more I believe they were abused. To kill their father…and mother…..not the best solution. How does one defend oneself when the very place in which they grew up turns a blind eye to and concerning them? Something in that home was perverse,it seems.

They were unjustly sentenced! They endured a horrific life because of their father and their mother, knowing what was happening, stood by. Imagine being constantly R’ed by your father! They should have received a sentence for the unaliving… but also received intense therapy at a different facility besides a prison! FREE THESE BROTHERS! THEY ARE VICTIMS!

Mental abuse holds one a prisoner regardless how old they are.

If they are free, they should live next to the judge & lawyers so they can be responsible for the brothers’ actions.

It was motivated by greed but by the District Attorney office Gil Garcetti. Political power is an animal of itself. Free these boys the evidence is very powerful. I follow this story. The music industry freak offs drugs and sex trafficking is real. These Brazilian trips are fishy. Boy bands The Melendez Brothers are survivals of many facets of injustices.

At 21 and 18, you could've left the house. You are an adult.

ITS MORE THAN 30 YEARS..... LIFE IS A HARSH SENTENCE FOR SELF DEFENSE. THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY MADE FUN OF THEM. THE MUSIC INDUSTRY HAS DARK SECRETS FOR FAME AND SUCCESS. HAVE YOU NOT HEARD ABOUT BOY BANDS, FREAK OFFS, NICKELODEON, WINSTEIN METOOMOVEMENT... 30 YEARS LATER ITS NOT HARD TO BELIEVE THEM BOYS.

@Bluelightning23, The 2 boys grew up in an environment that trapped them from birth. A parent, especially a father, represents the most powerful force in a family -- to a child. When a father physically abuses his children, there is no safe place. Nobody to confide in, to create a refuge for them. Their mother is guilty of failing to protect her sons from repeated predation. The depth of betrayal, let alone silent endorsement of abuse WRECKS people. If it were as simple as "just leaving".....they would have. Until you've walked in the shoes of a survivor of incest and child molestation, it is almost impossible to understand the amount of damage done to a person. Most of us commit suicide, because the physical abuse, lies, gaslighting, and pain convince us we should not be alive, that we deserve the abuse because we don't deserve to be loved by the parents who created us. This is a simplification of the situation in homes where that happens, and the mindset created in people who have been abused. In many ways, perhaps the brothers found relief once away from the nightmare & in prison. Incest and child molestation happens in every social strata, educational achievement (or lack) economic level, and every culture. I'm in my 70s, and it has taken decades to process what was done to me. Multiple decades. It affected every aspect of my life in ways I could not possibly have understood at 18 or 21. Reading or watching the mainstream media version of someone's life will never convey what it was like to experience what their existence was like.

Gimme a break…if they were being abused then they should’ve left the house. They were already adults at the time. They didn’t need to blow them away. They just wanted that inheritance. They were living it up not too long after the murders. Any normal person would’ve been mourning hardcore but, they didn’t.
