Well, I hear there's no grammatical gender, so in practice, there's no masculine, feminine, or neuter (even in personal pronouns). So "hän" literally means both he or she, which blows my f*ckin' mind.

The thing is that Finnish women require you to grow a pair but if you can do that they are most lovely. They don't take bad behaviour but they reward trustworthiness, honesty, reliability and mutual respect. Fail those and you'll never know what hit you. The same is expected of them too, of course.

jeppemichael I don’t know. I was specifically referring to Finns. They have a good supportive social system paid for by their taxes, if that is what you mean by “free money.” Perhaps more so in the past than now, the reality of Finnish life in the countryside at least was one of very hard work in order to survive. The WWII effort is another fine example. They have traditionally been very strong people.

Thank you for your keen eye and refreshing frankness, Viktor, you are right on point. So-called "news" in the US (and tragically spread elsewhere) has been täysin paska for decades, decaying further and further each year. @Kriste_Isopahkala you are far too generous. These people really do mean to be like that, they dream of it, it's a life goal (often fanatical) from a young age. It's hard to imagine when you're not like that yourself, but spend some actual time with them. You can almost feel your brain cells curdling as each moment passes.
