While the joke was funny, the expiry date is for the bottle's usage. Not the contents of it. And once the bottle is 'bad' it will start to affect the water. It's more an indicator of water quality, than usage.

You can combine different words in language to make them sound funny by changing their meaning or just use an expiration date to mean that water as people normally think the content (e.g. milk) is not ok anymore. It requires sense of humor to get that.

Say usually when a random drunk guy comes to insult you, with whatever topic, it's common to go with it for not to give any satisfaction to the person who said it by showing that they would have possibly gotten to you. Say someone would call you ugly and you would say: "Oh really thanks, I haven't noticed it in all of my years on earth, you must be really smart with that keen eye of yours". That type of thing.

If it's shipped in the summer and the truck gets real hot, the breakdown happens before it even gets on the shelf in the store. Bottled water is useful for emergency situations and such (floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc.). But a good filter or distiller, depending on if you have municipal water or well water, is a much safer option.

Most people probably don't get all the layers in some of his jokes. The one about speaking Finnish is one of them. The reason is that a significant percentage of people in Finland have Swedish as their native language.
