Chris Northover is a giggling hooligan😆. Jeremy McWilliams is a refined hooligan 🫖. Both: come across as intelligent; have the skills; great fun to watch (especially together): and have screws loose 😵💫. Love it!!!👍

Has a few ding dongs with Jeremy myself over the years. I once owned one of the first Aprilia Mille R’s in the country, complete with shotgun piles, to my surprise I rode up behind another rider on the exact same bike. I wheelied past him then he returned the favour, we raced for a few miles then stopped in a small village for a chat..imagine my surprise when he took his helmet off and it was McWill. Then I had a good battle with him at our local track, I managed to just about stay with him..I was on my R1 track bike and he was on an SV650 super twin 😂

I think the new 990 RC-R is the closest you're going to get.
@davidcolin65192 ай бұрын
I can see that they are making the sounds of wanting to. The RC990R is clearly pointing in that direction. Their original objections appear to have been cancelled by modern technology, so I think that there is a possibility. However, there is a big problem; the full on superbikes are losing market hand over fist. The sales of the SD GT have not been that good, if they had been, there'd have been an update when the last gen. SD R was released. If the factory has difficulty justifying an updated GT, a model which needed only minor work to bring it in line with the R, what chance is there of having a full fat SBK? TBF, I think that Matighoffen probably will introduce a 1390GT simply on the grounds of "because the old one is starting to look old, and the conversion from R to GT shouldn't be too difficult. But SBKs are a rapidly dwindling market and investing in the development of one from what would pretty much have to be scratch would NOT be cheap. And why would KTM do it? The market is shrinking, the customer base is aging and ADVs now make up a huge portion of big cube bikes these days.Nor could they even race one, either. i'm 61 and love sports bikes, yet have rarely owned them because they really are absolutely rubbish on the road. On the track? That's still too much unnecessary power for a track bike, the RC8R and RC990R are almost certainly going to be better track day bikes, and there really isn't any class for a 1390 Race bike. Knowing what I( know now, even if I had a 20y.o. body, I still wouldn't be looking at a SBK style version of this, it'd only be actual fun about once a year. However, a GT version would be damned near as good in almost every respect, but still be a truly great GT AND faired sports bike AND general hooning idiocy bike that would still make a great all round bike for all year riding. Currently, I'm seriously considering a 1290GT because they're selling at the same price as a stock R. I'm not convinced that I need such advanced wheelie control, especially as it won't allow you to get to the balance point, and because I've not had many problems controlling wheelies over the past 30 years. Yeah, the extra power and flexibility might be nice, but necessary? I'm far from convinced.

Some of your line Chris, we're actually better than Jezza's through some corners. Of course, he was cruising by his standards... if 125 mph wheelies can ever be considered cruising!

When I was but a wee lad....14, I had but a brand new Honda CB-100. I drove out to Draper Lake. It had hundreds of miles of dirt bike trails. I met my neighbor, Who had a brand new CZ-400....and it was jetted perfectly. I blasted around the motocross track until they sent somebody out to get me. Was it like that? 🤗

Find someone to go ride Supermoto bikes with on a kart track. You get the flavor of track riding at a much lower price point. Alternatively, find a commercially set up track day or weekend in your area and ask for coaching as a newcomer. It doesn’t have to be all that expensive.
