Finally someone explained this in plain English without making it sound more complicated than it is. Thank you! Finally I have a clear understanding.

Awesome video. Straight to the point and very good explanations. Thanks I hope this is the same for my 04 200exc. I was under the impression that I needed a different spring to change this.

Only video on youtube that shows how to adjust the power valve on pre 2017 KTM strokes!!! I turned the power valve adjuster wayyyy out and it didn't seem to change to much, I noticed a that the power band kicks in a little earlier... (It doesn't really stop spinning when going counter clockwise, it'll spin all the way out i think if you keep going)

Also, I forgot to loosen the 8mm bolt before turning... i hope i didn't damage anything

Mine is always at the very top (even past the topmost mark). Any idea what may cause that?

Is there somthing that would be to the point where it doesn’t even hit the power band? Because my ktm 200 has a fresh rebuild and I can full throttle and no powerband

The lil hose that comes off the power valve,where does that run to or is it just hanging open on the other end?

It’s funny that this is the top video because your info is bass ackwards. You can even see how early your valve is opening as you blip the throttle. Put the mark to the top and see and feel the difference, all the way lined up the valve doesn’t even open till the last few hundred rpm

Great video thankyou, I can't find any reference in the user manual on how to adjust. Are we sure that notch upper = earlier power valve operation, and lower = later power valve operation? My tame test rider claims it feels the other was round to him, and watching him ride that feels like fair comment. Thanks again.

why i believe that clockwise it makes it hit sooner? And counterclockwise makes it hit later? Am i wrong? My bike exc 125 works like that

Hey man! Are u sure? Because I have a husky 125 te 2014 and u wonder if it’s clock wise or counterwise
@Fabian_CRC10 ай бұрын
Hi, I have a xcw 200 and clockwise makes it hit sooner and counterclockwise makes it hit later, in my case its a 2009 but I think its the same motor until 2016 and 125, 144 and 200 works same

The 8mm bolt doesn’t seem to do anything? The big bolt still turns no matter where the 8mm bolt is. The bolt in the center of the big bolt turns freely to? Any advise? Thank you.
@johncarson21283 жыл бұрын
I have also noticed my 8mm bot isn't locking up the adjuster, however adjuster seems to stay put and doesn't move. I've just done a top end rebuild and moved from lower setting to mid so going to monitor that. I did remove the copper washer as a trial (Bolt goes in a smidgen further) and it does start to lock the adjuster. The bolt doesn't look at all worn on the end but maybe it is?

@@johncarson2128 My friend tried to do this to my 2011 KTM EXC and undid the whole thing (fgs) then the ball bearings all dropped down. Has anyone done this or does anyone know what to do??

@mohamedally68305 жыл бұрын
Again what is this power valve for?
@musicbox40225 жыл бұрын
Mohamed Ally - it controls both when and how quickly the exhaust port opens as compared to engine rpm. Before power valves, 2-stroke engines with fixed exhaust ports would either have great top-end power with very little low end torque- or good low end torque with little top end power... but never both. The power valve essentially chokes the exhaust at lower rpms providing low-end torque, then opens as the rpms increase giving great top end power. Power valves can be adjusted in two ways- 1. which rpm they begin to open; and 2. How quickly they move from closed to fully open (depending on rpm). A power valve that opens too soon can lack low end torque. A power valve that opens too late can lack top end. It’s best to find the middle ground for both low and high rpm power/torque.
@hansschweikert9153 Жыл бұрын
@@musicbox4022 Great explanation. So glad Mohamed asked that question. So if I want more torque, how should it be set? I do mostly hilly woods riding, with some short blasts on the occasional open sections. Torque more important than top end. Thx
