Three of us did a 2 week French tet and act trip last year and my one pal brought his 390. Only been Off roading once in his life and he got round everything on the mighty ktm. Very impressive little bike .

Roll the bars forward a tiny bit Nathan. With the lower pegs and that adjustment the standing position is not too disimilar to a proper enduro like and fe 450. Ive found having the front fork adjusted between comfort and road makes a big difference to how well it rides over edges and loose rocks making it much easier to be smooth and flowy. As I have mine now I can stand up comfortably all day and even loaded up for touring Ill happily go places I would not on big adventure bike. It beats the hell out an un modified crf every where including off road. Like you say the tk70s are pretty decent so are worth wearing out however on my last trip I ran a tkc80 up front and a mitas e07 plus on the rear. I dropped the pressures a little and the combination was a significant improvement in mud and sand. I think the tk70 rocks would also have been a good choice (no solid middle strip) but the mitas came up cheap and worked great. At proper pressures they are still pretty comfortable on tarmac and both are lasting pretty well. As you can probably tell I am quite enamoured by the bike, its just so flattering to ride on and off road. The only place it is lacking is on motorways. It has the speed and comfort but the fuel economy jumps off a cliff above 70mph whereas every where else it is very frugal. Cheers for the videos. Hopefully Ill get to come across this year and and do one of the Enfield try out days with my brother and dad. How far ahead are you normally booked? Paul

Cheers Paul. Good info. Yeah those bars are about as far forward as they'll go without hitting the screen. Been out on it today and it does have a good stance now. Did some good lanes. Unfortunately I've moved on the Enfields. Just too much investment for not enough yield,. I just have a Himalayan or two now. Sorry about that!

The entire 490 range has been cancelled, sadly. I test rode the 390 Adv a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. It's a nice machine.

the 490 range has been cancelled? I didn't know that.

@@1990-t1j AutocarIndia has an article about it. That’s where they are made, so I think it’s a credible source.

Actually yeah but now they state it will be a 690 twin, maybe a watered down 790 who knows...

Like unpacking the best Christmas present ever! How do you like the seat cover? Does it help to keep the seat cool and repel the rain? Thanks for the review... KTM's are Da Best 🤙

Personally I would not consider a KTM due to reliability issues and horror stories online...

I've heard the engine is a bit revvy and top - endy for off road work. Guess it would be fine for ACT type trails and most of TET but on the techy bits would it be too much like hard work? Seems like the European trips picking up bits of the ACT and TET involve a fair bit of road work and this would be great on that?
@nathanthepostman Жыл бұрын
Yeah it's a good bike for the road, but that motor's not too bad on the trails. It does have some decent chug and will do some tricky lanes. Ground clearance is a bit of an issue but will definitely cope with ACT by the looks of it

If… KTM had a 490 R version that was close to the weight of the 390 I’d have bought one instead of the 890 S model I have now. Don’t get me wrong the 890 is awesome but a lighter and less expensive option would have been my winner. I obviously didn’t but buy the two 390’s that were on the showroom floor at the time, though I considered it.

You started it too quick…. Give it 30-40 seconds after turning the key. Full pump diagnostic takes time.
