KTM 450 Supermoto Chasing Sportbikes on Track!

Why not? Ha! I decided to take my 2023 KTM 450 SMR out on the big track at Eagles Canyon Raceway.

Nice to see what is essentially a dirt bike go up against some sport bikes on a track that big. I think either a 40 or 42 sprocket would be a better size as I see the bike isn't revving out on the straight. Most 450's make peak power at 8-9000rpm and it didn't sound like it was up there. Nice riding too!

Have you tried a 690 smc r? Would be nice to know the difference if both were on average sized racetrack. Considering a 690 as a street bike but may get into track riding someday so a comparison would be great

Yess, it’s the same, Husky does block of the air intake a bit more giving a little bit different engine feel. But the horsepower and torque is the same👍

thanks for the video, will be at CMRH with my 701 still mocking up an oil pan to padd tech. Do you have a stabilizer on that bike?

I don’t have a stabilizer but I’ve heard folks will use that for the big track, it did get a little wobbly here and there on exit but in general it wasn’t that bad.

also... i want to ride this track! looks fun. i've run a 15 tooth on mine and you'll just need to pull off the front chain guard. two bolts and off it comes and you get clearance.

About 11 seconds slower 😅😅😅 but I’m pretty happy with it being fairly stock. Going to try some changes and see if we can make it feel a bit more confident in the corners! Would be cool if we can get the sumo to be competitive vs the lightweight sport bikes on track. 😄

I just picked up a '23... doesn't yours have a quickshifter?

Nice! Same as mine then, yes it has the quickshifter but I’ve found it pretty clunky so I just manually shift. I’m also spoiled with my race bike having a really smooth qs/autoblipper.

Yes it is a bit hard to shift. Really have to mean it, haha

@@inchull I'm going to try and get back out on track in next few days and give the QS a shot again. It wasn't very smooth at my kart track, but maybe it'll be better on big track. Will give it a shot!

@@vtranmoto Don't quote me, but I believe there is a calibration procedure according to what I think I read in the manual.
