Nothing like that on my Harleys or 1100 Shadow but figured it would be interesting to see how that clutch works. Great video from a great mechanic. Thanks.

Great video! my son has a 2022 gas gas mc50. Do these clutches get noisy when they wear out? my sons 2022 with 40 hrs is making noise on start up and shut down. sounds like its coming from behind the clutch cover. i pulled the cylinder and the piston looks perfect still.

Any ideas on how to fix? Is b&m trick shift atf too heavy? It was recommended to me with claims it runs 20 degrees cooler
@TepcoCycleRepair2 жыл бұрын
What's the problem you're having? These clutches run really hot I don't think a different type of oil will change that. Just set it up so it slips the least, grabs at the highest rpm, and it will last the longest.

What colour loctite do you recommend for screws? Thank you for making this video
@TepcoCycleRepair3 жыл бұрын
I use Blue on bolts I don't want coming loose and that I want to be able to remove. Red is more of a permanent loctite that needs heat to remove.

Hey man did you do a bottom end rebuild?
@TepcoCycleRepair3 жыл бұрын
No I didn't. It's pretty easy in these though because of the lack of transmission. It's a pretty basic engine as far as disassembly/assembly goes.

I just did my sons clutch and everything works well.engages good and everything but when I stop the tire or apply the rear brake the bike shuts off now it didn't do that before. The clutch kit is straight from ktm. Only difference is I went up 1 click to 12 and I loaded the bike with b&m trickshift vs before I used motorex dex3. Once the bike warms up, the frequency of it shutting off reduces but Atilla need to give it throttle every few seconds or it eventually will

Sounds like the plates are sticking, I would try the oil you used to use. I don't think a different type of oil will keep these clutches cooler, they just run super hot.

Hey man how ya remove the clutch bolt man it's tight
@TepcoCycleRepair3 жыл бұрын
The T45 in the center came right out with the impact. Use a good brand socket so it doesn't slip.

@@TepcoCycleRepair the whole assembly wants to turn. Is that what you need the impact wrench for?
@TepcoCycleRepair3 жыл бұрын
@@KG-yc6cl The impact removes it quick enough that the basket doesn't turn. If you don't have an impact you'll need something to hold the basket.

Having an issue on my sons bike where the bike is off, it's very hard to push. I have to roll the bike backwards, and then forward and eventually can push it but it is still harder than it shoulder be. It's almost like the clutch is sticking. Would changing the clutch pack help out?
@TepcoCycleRepair3 жыл бұрын
Yes but it could also be that it's not adjusted properly. If the adjustment screws are all the way out or just one click in, the clutch could drag. Also check that your rear caliper isn't dragging.

What’s the difference between stock and hard springs?
@TepcoCycleRepair3 жыл бұрын
You would need a higher RPM to engage the clutch with hard or stiffer springs.
@jamesfulerten84942 жыл бұрын
If the contact springs are tighter the engine will spin longer. If the contact springs using the adjuster bolts are looser than the clutch will lock sooner causing less spin up by the engine. In other words if the adjustment bolts are tightened it will take more RPM to cause the clutch to lock causing more wear and the build up of more heat. If the adjustment bolts are loosened then it takes LESS RPM for the clutch to lock up lowering wear and heat build up in the clutch plates. The quicker the clutch locks up the less heat and wear on the clutch plates.
@TepcoCycleRepair2 жыл бұрын
Not exactly how we're seeing them wear out. If the springs are looser yes it grabs quicker but also slips more causing more heat, especially if they are learning at lower throttle. Having the springs tighter allows the engine to free spin when they are stopped or slow preventing excessive slipping. I think it depends more on the rider and how they actuate the throttle.
