Good to see you back on the bike. What is the name of the other lane you traversed? Looks more interesting than Salter Fell...

Ta, good to be back out, but need a bit more riding time to get back up to scratch! It’s above Chipping - osmaps.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/osmaps/route/8526696/chipping-lane

Nice work. I rode salterfell the other week! Pretty sure I subscribed after watching your previous video on it. Any recommendations on mother local lanes on the Slaidburn side?
@BikeLugger3 жыл бұрын
Ah cheers for the sub! Not much this side really. Snape rake lane by Waddecar Scout Camp is worth a look though. Fairly tight and techy with a Ford.

@@BikeLugger cool. I’ll take a look at that one 👍🏼 I’ve mostly been doing tracks like SalterFell and a few that start around settle that I’ve found on view ranger.

@@CarparkCarl Best thing I did was join GLASS. Gives me access to interactive maps with all the green lanes on. You can read other users comments and see photos if they’ve put them up. I think the TRF have similar mapping, but it’s been a few years since my membership lapsed. There are long distance routes out there available for free like the TET and TNT. They’ll include a number of lanes, but from experience they don’t always do a thorough job checking/updating all lanes are legal and rideable. If you blindly follow them you might end up on a newly closed lane that’s being monitored by the police. Bye bye bike if they catch you. At least with GLASS/TRF membership you can then check the lanes on the route and avoid any trouble spots. Don’t forget the lane above chipping, well worth a trip. Just take your time through the farm and keep to the track. osmaps.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/route/8526696/Chipping-lane

@@BikeLugger I’ve been toying up with joining TRF as I only go on my bike. But yeah. Finding route online I do worry about them being out of date :) I’d prefer to stick to allowed lanes and not do anything illegal. Do you think GLASS is suitable for bikes as well? The website is all 4x4s and I wouldn’t want to be the odd one out lol.
@BikeLugger3 жыл бұрын
@@CarparkCarl I’d say if you’re wanting to join them on days out you’ll be the odd one out. I can cover ground so much quicker on my bike than in the Disco so would never want to be the only bike with a load of 4x4s. If however you just want to support keeping lanes open and having access to up to date maps and info on routes GLASS will do the job. The info on lanes tells you if it’s closed to cars, but open to bikes so it’s very useful. Not sure if the TRF maps do that. At the end of the day either of them will support the cause and help keep you legal.

A cracking route that one, thanks for sharing. How does the KTM compare with the Yamaha off road?
@BikeLugger3 жыл бұрын
A very different beast! The Yamaha was often a bit sluggish and got unsettled in the rough stuff. The KTM has almost too much power, but handles it really well. Its a bit heavy and super tall. At my skill level, for the techy stuff I'd still prefer it to be as small and light as a 250cc, but the grin factor everywhere else makes up for it.

Yeah it’s a good one, get yerself a little bike and have a go. Check out the lane south of Stalling Busk and Marsett in the dales for something similar that’s legal on four wheels.
