‘Running lean for the CAT to work’ isn’t true, or has been explained’poorly’, fueling is normally approximately 10% richer than a non-cat fitted engine… this is to provide the energy to ‘lite’ the cat and keep it running hot and clean… too lean or rich is bad for the cat both in performance of its emissions and if rich it will over heat and melt. The lean condition they are talking about is only at lower rev’s on acceleration where being lean means a crisp throttle response as long as its not too lean where it will stumble and or not accelerate… If its rich the throttle will be lethargic, ‘woolly’ and sometimes feel like the throttle is an elastic band.

Think Chops should do a ‘Tea’ channel’, he knows how to make a properly cuppa and by the looks of it there are loads of people out there that need some ‘training’ 😂 Dark tea and or full fat milk in the tea 🤢

The tune they did should make the bike a lot more relaxed when just cruising and a lot more lively and less gear dependent 👍
@jamest51492 жыл бұрын
Chops, think you should get them to trim the tune to the bike, even though it may be only a couple bhp change, its the throttle response and ride ability that will improve lot.

The catalytic converters need a 14.7 mix because they effectively finish the parts of the combustion process that didn't happen in the cylinder. It doesn't like a variant mixture, because it can poison the catalyst. The throttle mapping does the same thing that throttle cams do on traditional throttles, it just does it in a way that varies at different RPM. If you look at the throttle actuator on a cable throttle you'll see that the diameter varies around the perimiter of the cam, this changes the amount of throttle you get at the blades compared to the twist grip... Same thing has existed since carbs. :)

moreover, it is important to point out that: - the throttle body is really small, 50mm for a 693cc. the 56mm of the Superduke GT would be more suitable for increased power - the injector is that of an exc-f 450 from 2015, which is less efficient than that of an exc-f from 2023 and STILL less efficient than that of an Sx-f 450 from 2023, at the time to say that for a 693cc... - the camshaft does not allow maximum valve opening, and is sized for low revs ~6000rpm - the valves are made of steel, while the titanium valves exist - on the 766 version, it was still possible to add an oil cooler to improve cooling, lubrication (the big pump helps the small one) and a slight gain in oil capacity the 690 is easily capable of exceeding 100hp, it was already the case in 2009 with the first version with its shitty lubrication. autemps to say that in 2022, it would remain as reliable and enduring as a cross. frequent emptying and segmentation (and again..) but a fire engine

(Like Chris has just done to Greg’s bike) As apposed to installing a Power commander 5 like you have done on your bike (Euro4). Can I also assume that a ECU flash would void my warranty? To avoid issues this is why we flashed Greg's bike 👍

Hey John love the channel and it’s through your 690 build series I have started my own and basically taking what you have done to yours..mine is a 22plate euro 5 I have just put the full tekmo exhaust and fuel optimiser I have the stage one dna filter but now want to put the stage 2 dna plate like the other 690 I’m a bit confused now as I was going to get the power commander but am I right in saying that Chris can tune the ecu Instead?? It’s roughly the same price either way so it doesn’t matter just want to know which way is best, if I did go the power commander can the map be changed to more midrange punch?
@LambChopRides2 жыл бұрын
Yes actually cheaper for Chris to tune and forget the PC. The Euro5 is tricky with the PC5, only people I know of who can do it is P3 Tunning

Hi, I was wondering if you had the DB killer installed on the Tekmo exhaust for these dyno results.

I'd love to have a 690 but begin a short arse I'd struggle to touch the floor ..... brilliant video

So exactly how many cups of tea did you drink in total on the day? Milky with sugar is the best. Red Rose or PG Tips. Great video. Traded in my 690 SMC on a Beast 2.0 so its too late for me but still very interesting. I think you may have come to the end of the trail for 690 upgrades….blinged out now! 😄

Any idea from KTM on whether this would void the engine warranty on a bike still within the warranty period?
@stephenmcqueen40292 жыл бұрын
Absolutely!
@LambChopRides2 жыл бұрын
Yes warranty voided of course, which is ironic as its running much healthier than a standard bike!

Where do you guys get your rottweiler parts? I'm guessing there's a UK distributer as the price would really rack up coming from the US 🙈
