I don't understand people's concerns at Chinese and Indian bikes. There is nothing wrong with the build quality. The Benelli is excellent, and the enfield still gives you the magical experience and is excellent. The value is seconded to none and allows more people to new hassle free ownership and the ability to have multiple bikes rather than compromise on a over priced new or second-hand bike. I think it's great that these bikes are making it more affordable and accessible for new bikers. Enjoyed the review m8 👍

Remember that scene from Back to the Future 3 in the mine fixing the Delorean. Doc from the 50’s pulled out a part and said “no wonder it broke, look made in Japan”. Marty replied “what do you mean Doc, that’s where all the good stuff come from?” I believe old stuff definitely was poorly made. These days you just need to do your research.

Dreamsickle, cream and orange! Excellent look at the Adventure series KTM in 790 form. I haven’t ridden the 790’s but I dearly love my 2022 Adventure 890 S model. They are capable bikes and very easy to get on with. I bought a Puig taller screen for Winter riding and use the stock screen for the rest of the year. I’d imagine the new series fairing and screen to be even better at protection. Could the 790 Adventure be a one bike option? Definitely! When I tested Triumph’s top of the line Scrambler this past Summer the KTM was behind it in power but ahead of it in handling and maneuverability. The utilitarian side of me will take the Adventure over the Triumph Scramblers all day long except for (maybe) two factors, looks, and possibly the ease of maintenance. Being somewhat shallow, I still want a Triumph Scrambler or T100 for that “Distinguished Gentleman” feeling.

Thanks for the marvellous review TAYM. Think I prefer the black paint job but each to their own. Would make a great winter bike but I’m holding out for the new Himalayan before deciding if another bike is worth the hassle persuading misses TG.😅

seat height is the same for both 890 adv and 790 adv , it is adjustable at 840mm or 860mm

Nice! Just the right amount of orange 👍. The front end looks better than many adventure bikes. They should have made the mirrors a little larger towards the outside edge. There is the Husqvana range for potential future road tests too 👍.

Like Mike-T120 says it's got to taste of Terry's White Chocolate Orange, which to my pallet tastes a good bit less Orangey than the milk chocolate version. The reason it's a good bit cheaper is that it has £2,500's worth less ORANGE 🍊. Which doesn't only reflect in it's look and flavour but also in its Zest. It should be noted though that cruise control, heated grips, the quick shifter etc, although fitted to the bike out of the factory, require purchase to enable them indefinitely. It's still a lot of bike for the money, offering a lot of fun to its owner 👍😀

As you said the 890.. I spoke to you about the Husqvarna 901 norden, that is the same bike but more nice on the eyes. Since then you passed by the 901 on some bike night like it was even there. I like the Husquis more because they look very nice in my opinion of course.

KTM has earned itself a questionable reputation for reliability BEFORE it started making some of their bikes in China. Maybe that reputation will improve a little now?

Looks like the KTM 790 is well worth the price. Motorcycle insurance is probably lower with a smaller cc bike.

I can only just touch the ground on my wee Bullet, I'd have no chance on that, don't think Dave would either 😄. I'm not keen on the fuel tank being around the engine like that. I know it lowers the centre of gravity and provides more protection for the engine and rider but to do any work on the engine it has to be removed, which means more or less taking all the bodywork off and will significantly increase servicing and repair costs. Also I'd be dropping it regularly so I'd be too worried about bursting the tank. Thanks for the review though, Mick

@@TAYM Yes, like modern cars, most modern bikes are almost impossible to fix at home anymore 😣. For me Bobby the Bullet is the best adventure bike I've had, he's easy to ride, goes anywhere I want him to go, is very inexpensive to run and I can fix most things that might go wrong myself. I've get as much if not more pleasure with Bobby as I did with any of the GSs I've had ☺. Cheers, Mick

I think it would taste like a Terry's White Chocolate Orange. I really like the 790 and I think it's a real bargain and unless you do a lot of off-roading I don't see the value in the extra £2.5k for the 890. As for the China thing well if you ride a Triumph it was made in Thailand, if you ride a Honda it was probably made in Thailand or China and whatever you ride it will have parts made in China so I can't see that it makes any difference if it is made to KTM specs. I do think you have to think twice about Chinese manufacturers making to Chinese specs but CF Moto's partnership with KTM is very deep now so I wouldn't worry about that at all.
