got all three of them, the heat shield is a huge must, neck brace is awesome but check the wires sporadicly because the brace square edge damaged one (just filed down a bit and absolutely no problem now), have the one finger clutch (never installed), went with Recluse because factory one never work properly from day one.......... great company, love their products, cheers V!

That 's a good point, the early kits had sharper edges. We started chamfered the braces in about about mid-2020.

I purchased their clutch link thingy and installed it. Because the clamping hole that grips the post was oversized it slipped and ended my ride miles from home in the middle of the forest. Come to find out, Camel ADV knew about the problem, had already made replacement parts that met the drawing (better quality control?), but failed to get the word out to customers, instead waited to hear from them after they had a problem with it.

19,000 miles with no issues is good, Tony. My 390 Duke has done 22,000 km.

I had a leak issue with my rear shock, regardless the heat shield. Plus what annoyed me was that all the heat went to my boots during the slow pace riding in more technical terrain.

Yes it’s a problem that I’ve seen reported. I think the heat shield has more to do with the actual performance of the shock rather than protecting from leaks?

@@mancavemoto I haven't noticed the difference, but I am not skilled rider. For me the most important mod was the sturdy skid plate (I used axp) as the stock one is very tin

Would you consider doing a long term review of the 790, pointing out its good and bad. Are these as bad as you read on the net ? Thinking of buying one but alittle put off by what people say, are they really that bad ..🤔

That’s something I have thought about, and it might be worth doing. No doubt there are problems with the bike, as their are with plenty of others. But I think it’s overdone a bit, and it’s a very hard reputation to shrug off. Is the same with most things, a lot of the negative commenters probably have never even sat on one let alone owned one. Mines done 19k miles and I personally have had no issues other than a bit of condensation in the tft occasionally, and a dodgy fork seal.

@@mancavemoto Sounds reliable. The local KTM shop in Chiang Rai has closed down [I predicted it wouldn't last a year], so my decision has been made for me.

So KTM didn't fix that headlamp mount design issue they have since years starting with 1050, 1090 etc - amazing... Overheating rear shock shows how bad their design team actually is. Want to have KTM? stick to their dirt bikes only.

U named 3 products that I know you don't need. I jump curbs, rocks and trees on my 890 adv for the last 4500 or so miles with none of these a worry. These "essential mods" are more like wasted money to me
