my local KTM dealer (close friend of mine) has a 2 1290, one track and one street, sold the stret and got a 790, but he also got a second 790 for the track and the 1290 is colecting dust at the store

Geoff Gbad there is some laked pictures of a white and Orange 790, maybe brembo and adjustable fork, but not sure, honestly not sure if worth maybe 2k more

@@midibudu i have a 1290 2018 and a ducati mts 1200, im selling the multistrada as i dont tour a lot and having an 790 to street and small touring, ill keep the 1290 to track and ocasional rides

Having ridden one, I can believe you when you say you don't say it's good because they told you to. It's such a fantastic bike, like you said, the way it handles is just incredible, even on roads that you didn't realise were good, just suddenly become fun roads, even in the UK. I'd love an experience like this. Regarding the brakes though, I actually tested two bikes, one was for about 20 minutes, just a quick run and then they let me have another a few weeks later for 2-3 hours. The first one didn't have brilliant brakes, but the second one were extremely good. I wonder if it's just the pads or something, but the second one I had they were extremely good, especially the front.

the guy who asked about stock tyres (one of them) was me, aaaaand what can i say, i just signed the purchase of one, im getting it 29th august, i forgot about what tyres it has, or the suspension is, is the perfect bike for me, and you helped me a lot taking this choice, thanks for your videos and your honest opinion

RJ - I have the 790 and absolutely love this bike. As you say it has the perfect amount of power and the fact it comes standard with all the electronics package whereas on the 1290 it's an option is a bonus. The price of the bike and what you get for it is amazing. The handling of the bike is also spot on and very planted not to mention still very nimble. It's called the scalpel for a reason :)

😀👍🍊🏍. Correct verdict RJ👊. I've done just over a thousand miles on my 790 Duke and live it (obvs😂). Agree with you on comfort did a 10 hour day and all good. Also suspension is really great. Had bikes before with loads of adjustment and never bothered much with twiddling adjusters😄. Handling IS ammaazzing😎. QS and autoblipper are just so smmooooooth and cool as. Very happy with mine. Can't wait to get it over to the Alps.

As a old-model 390 owner, I must say, what a bike is the 790! But that plate holder is simply an eyesore, just like in the "younger sister". That's why I had the short tail put on.

I don't know why are people obsessed with adjustment, its not a hardcore racing bike or a dirt bike, other than rear shock preload because they can't guess your weight you would just have a possibility to mess things up because you can hardly be more experienced than ktm's engineers and test riders with racing history

Agreed, most people couldn't cope with all the adjustments of a real racing shock or forks. It's just overwhelming and you need tons of experience to set them up properly. Or a team of engineers like the pros, lol.

Yeah but buying an A2 version of a bike is a terrible plan as you then have to buy the bike again to get a non A2 version. Easier to buy a restrictable bike and just have it restricted until you get your DAS done imo

It was the horrible test ride on the Vitpilen that drove me to the 790 via a Street Triple. 790 is the least good-looking. BUT THE RIDE... three months on, it still makes me grin every day.

It’s a weird position. I rode to the test-ride on my trusty Super Blackbird (comfy), and getting on the Vit was very odd. It didn’t Feel natural. And I’m of medium build and height. It’s definitely a good-looking bike. But if it’s no fun to ride, I don’t see the point - plus I expected big-thumper torque. It’s all defined, so that was doubly disappointing.

Although I’m sure you would love them to pay for the whole trip... it’s cool to have someone NOT suck up like a lot of the modern car/bike journo’s do, and keep independent. (For e.g. I really can’t stand tests where the conclusion is “they’re all good”.) The brakes on the 790... can you not put some braided hoses on to solve the “bite” issue?

Hello, hey, wait a minute, this my country !😊 I was considering buying one this next coming 2020 spring. unfortunately, I didn't have the chance trying one this past summer. It's not good for riding in town, you say?? Why? I will be riding in town, 1: because I don't have another choice and I live in town. And 2: when you go to work you'll have to ride it in town and through it, mostly in the heavy traffic at the end of a work day to go back home (for most people) we don't all live in the countryside ! Well, it is do-able :) I got mine now...end-of-season sales. However on the test ride it took me like whole 75 seconds of not overtaking the traffic on the way from the dealer to the first lights. Next lights I went for it straight away. Slow traffic speeds are not so smooth, BUT what the hell :D everything else is awesome. It's like an olympic athlete on steroids.
