My gut reaction would be the TKC 80s but that may change over time. I’m excited to try the Dunlop Trailmax Missions on the 1290.

@@advnoobie6061 Thanks for the reply TKC 80's were among those I was considering. Living in Scotland I need to feel confident in cold wet tarmac, then also cover gravel, sand and mud. I realise sacrifices need to be made as one tyre won't handle all. The new Karoo 4's seem decent in all but mud and are certainly a better road option than most. I'm happy with the Karoo 3's on my KTM 890 Adventure R but then I haven't challenged them off road. Availability reduces choice right now so only time will tell.
