I had mine for over a decade.. was my favourite bike, had it alongside a lot of ducatis, BMW's, hondas, yamahas and this one I would never get rid of until it was written off by someone pulling out in front of me. I agree completely with your sentiment. Min had about 142hp at the rear wheel, quick shifter, steering stabiliser, ohlins internals for the suspension. it was incredible to ride, so raw, stupid and crazy but the harder you pushed it, the better it became. this new one doesnt excite me.. the new 1390 though... well yeah it does. Im on a BMW R1250r sport these days.. the only thing I miss from my old 990 is that the raucus motor and sound. It has the same ridiculous torque and power deliver though.
@SeekaX7 ай бұрын
This bike seems to have opened up its own category and i'm not sure whether it's justified. When the first 790 released, it was priced just under 8000€ in europe. This bike is now at 14.500€, and they make you pay another 500€ if you want to turn the wheelie control off (i can understand paying to unlock electronic features, paying to be able to turn them off is ridiculous). So this is a 15.000€ bike, it has almost doubled in price since 2017 (i know, inflation played its part too). The 990r will be around 17.000€ properly specced up i reckon, that's knocking on superbike territory. On the other hand you have bikes like the Tuono 660 Factory (11.000€), which is down on power a bit and i'm unsure how the Sachs/Kayaba combination compares to the WP. Also the CB750 Hornet if you want to go super budget, well down on power and the suspension is probably not worth talking about, but it's almost half the price at 8200€. Both of those bikes are probably somewhat inferior in a direct comparison, but i do wonder whether the price difference is justified on the road. Especially the Tuono seems like it would make spending the extra money a difficult decision. Edit: 765RS is 12.500€, don't know how i'd justify 2500€ more for the 990.

@loztagain82787 ай бұрын
@@rideroll9609 have you tried looking at the dyno results for the 765 r triple vs the 890 r duke? I think you'll find the 890 had higher torque figures way earlier. Given that, I would expect the "pull" from the three cylinder to feel less immediate when you consider the party at 3k rpm on the KTM is already higher than the peak torque figures for the triple at 8k rpm. I guess that means "better pull" is pretty subjective.... Honestly, I am thinking unless the KTM on a test ride steals my soul, dealer support will be a bigger draw, and Triumph will win that where I am as I can walk to the Triumph dealer in less than an hour. Had a look at it. Been a KTM nut for years, had a 690 Duke, 950 Supermoto, 990 Adventure R and my current 164kg 990 Superduke. Everything just felt so cheap on this. The looks, the feel of the brake and clutch, the paint. The headlight *kind* of works on the 1390, not on the 990. A street triple RS feels so much more premium, the same with a Hypermotard. Would honestly much rather get a 890R.

@@ciuffoarancione8929 Do you want a list with the weight reduction? Original weight is 184kg, just Akras alone are 9kg lighter than the stock exhaust. Battery is 3kg lighter, forged OZ wheels are 2kg lighter, rear footrests are 1,6kg, and changing the airbox to a Rottwieler setup saves 2kg. Just that takes it down to 166🤷🏻♂️ I have not even included SAS delete, titanium engine bolts or 520 conversion. Its not rocket science. Its also dynoed to 128hp/109Nm on the rear wheel. Not to bad for the old girl. Proper mapping is essential on these bikes.

There's so much quality choice out there now. When I got my Gen 1 SDR, it was kinda the billy biggest big balls on the street. Now, I mean just between Ducati and KTM alone, there's so much competition. I'm struggling to pick, which is a nice problem to have. It wont be for another year, because well, money - but Streetfighter V2/V4? SDR 1390? Duke 990? Diavel? Really big struggles.

@ 44 Teeth, i would 100% buy a 1090 Duke in future (upgrade of 990, if it came) . . because I believe the ideal engine size for a Twin is 900-1100cc (450-525cc per cylinder) even though I own 2022 Gen 3 Hayabusa (335cc per cylinder) ... & ... 2023 XDiavel 1260 V2 (630cc per cylinder) ... & ... Trident 660 (220cc per cylinder) ... & ... Scrambler 400X (single) ... and none of those match the ideal capacity per cylinder. I wish my Busa was minimum 1800 to max 2100cc So when you say the 1890 is around the corner, it should not be a V2 but V4 . . . basically an upgrade of Yamaha VMax 1700 V4 .... and even an air-cooled V4 would do, . . . no Radiator for aesthetics...! Largest Liquid-cooled V2 = Suzuki Intruder M1800R BOSS (BOULEVARD M109R) Largest Air-cooled V2 = ARCH Method 143ci (2343cc)

For me a few problems, it's ugly and part of spending money on a bike is wanting to look back at your bike, then the constant owner compliants about reliability is hard to ignore.

In the Netherlands this costs €17.230,- while the MT-10 costs €18.099,-. Thats alot closer then you would expect. Other then that. Seen it in the flesh and the new front does look better then I thought. Awesome little bike.
