Baja Dreaming - I am carrying a lot of load on my 2015 KTM 690R Enduro with Deacon (50 lbs) and myself (210 ponds) along with our luggage. This video shows me measuring the sag and adjusting the damping of the shock for a fully loaded bike. It was previously set up for comfort. I increased the preload by two turns and my feet are barely touching the ground now. I also put 10 clicks on each side of the forks. They were set between 15-20 before.

I just sold my 2013 and bought a 2017 Husqvarna 701. I'm setting up the suspension tomorrow so your vid is a great refresher.

Suspension set up is like a hobby in itself. New springy things for me next month. The stock springs are maxed out. Good video.

Thanks for the video. I couldn't find the rebound damping screw for my shock absorber on my 2019 although its the same picture as shown in your 2015's manual. Looks like the screw is on the other side, thanks for the reference to help me clear that up!

The heavy duty spring cost about $180 from KTM.

For best ride and handling, you really should get heavy duty spring's for shock and the forks. Cranking up the preload, will not stop you from bottoming. You may want to go in half turn on hi-speed and 2 turns in on low speed comp.

I meant two clicks low speed comp

I do not have time to change out the spring before the trip, but this is the heavy duty spring from KTM 91110005S SPRING 220MM 85N/MM (61) $132.32 (from TheMotorCafe.com) The stock is 91110004S SPRING 220MM 80N/MM

you should set that 18mm static sag with no gear on it at all (you have your luggage on). You then put all the gear and you on it and it should be that 70-80mm sag if your spring is the right size.

How did you turn the preload adjuster ring without messing it up?

What is your jacket in the photo? Thanks for your video, I'm 6'1" 230 lbs. What WP spring would you recommend? I have my 690 Enduro outfitted like yours. See you out there sometime.

So did this make a big difference? Could you feel the difference as soon as you took it for a ride?
@telerover
@telerover 7 жыл бұрын
scaronscar well, it was correct when fully loaded but without bags and gear it was too stiff and the seat height was awkward when off road in tough stuff. I have since released the tension 2 turns.

scott, suspension is my weak point, but I do rely on friends. To do it right you have to pull the shock.
