The essay is titled "My Brown Skin." Olivia Malmgren grew in a mostly white family in a mostly white Idaho. She wrote about that for an English class essay.

Bravo, Olivia! Love yourself, and your family and friends, and; stay focused. It's clear that you are a rising star. In a few years, the work you have done will pay off and, we will say, I remember her! I knew she would reach the pinnacle!

Being different also brings lots of benefits. Kids want to be the same but to be done deferent on their terms.

What a beautiful young lady and her truth resonates with me even though I am olive:)~ lol it’s when I moved to Michigan I truly understood what it means to be the minority! My Mom told me that my first encounter with a little black girl was when we were around two! Apparently we shared a sucker!! Lol Babies don’t know colors, only the spirit.
