I can not wait for this update. When Total War Warhammer 3 was coming, I most awaited Nurgle out of everything. Then I got my hands on him and realized how hard he was to play as. I have not touched the game since the early days, knowing that one day there will be an update to Nurgle and now it's here, now I finally get to enjoy everything the game has to offer and the whole update looks just dope. Which is awesome! Feel like CA is turning around the ship finally and if they keep this up, the legacy of TWW series will be golden.

one of the things kugath needs is an ammo regen aura and it would not really unbalance anything because nurgle is not really a missile based faction and allowing slow kugath the ability to bombard his foe sort of forces them to come to him as well as people baiting out the few shots nurgle ranged units can have and then hit and running them to death as now running would open them back up to bombardment.

I think it makes sense that Epidemius would be quantity-over-quality with plagues, and Ku'gath would be quality over quantity. Since Epidemius is all about counting lots of plagues, and Ku'gath is all about trying to create the perfect plague.

Ghorst is not a problem for the player. If anyone is struggling with him, just recruit 2-3 chaos champion heros and have them flank and kill Ghorst off during the fight. After that it's over for his faction

I will not deny this. Having played Ku'gath a bit (though admittedly on normal campaign/normal battle difficulty), Ghorst hasn't been too much of an issue. Ambushing him using the forest terrain in Ghorst's starting province has made it pretty inconsequential. I say less of a problem because I HAVE heard people who play on higher difficulties than I do talk about having issues with him.

I'm so glad they made the nurling regen bonus factionwide. I was pushing for that from the beginning lol. Having to wait until lvl7 is a bit much, but with bonuses to recruit rank I think you can get there pretty quick--maybe even optimize it to start with lvl7 nurglings in certain places

I honestly really hope that this rework seriously buffs Great unclean ones. That slime trail ability is not making a difference when you get filled with led by anything with the common sense to shoot you. The speed reduction also won’t make a difference given how slow Nurgle is. And considering Cathay and Gelt are nearby I think missile resistance would be a good buff to give these guys.

I'll preface saying I play on Very hard very hard, and that khorne and beastmen is my style of gameplay. Fast powerful melee, and big damage. I don't feel like Nurgle (before this update) does anything. Ghorst out attritions him so easily which for the faction that's supposed to be all about attrition warfare saddens me, daemonic just makes it so you just lose sometimes which is infuriating. His recruitment is just a worse version of chaos warriors, and his plagues spread slower and less reliably than both skaven and beastmen which is crazy. Maybe he becomes powerful mid-late game but if the beginning is that bad and slow I'd rather just play a different faction.

Honestly, dude, while I didn't get around to playing Ku'gath until CoC I did disable the dlc because of all the hate he was getting and wanted to see for myself. Surprisingly I actually found him much more enjoyable to play as than Dwarfs, High Elves, Empire, Cathay or Kislev. Still, he's probably more fun now since the mechanics have evolved further and didn't just get plain buffs. A shame tho that they went the route of making all the infrastructure non-cyclical instead of specialising them more so you still get a dedicated defensive building, I really liked the feast & famine vibes you'd get playing as him, like the faction itself is a living and breathing organism

Previously there has been an issue in the Dragon Isles with spreading plagues between the settlements in the province, presumably something to do with the plagues considering each settlement as its own landmass. Has this been fixed or is this still a problem? I ask because this was always one of the (many) early pains when playing nurgle as it drastically slowed down growth in the province.

Curious about this as well but doubt it. That was such a headache when I first played. I don't doubt it made plagues look like total crap to so many players wondering "why do my plagues never spread?" 1.) starting area that prevents plague spread 2.) Ghorst being such a headache 3.) slow burn everything. really made Kugath look bad.

Pretty cool to see that his nurgling bonuses are now faction wide. Those skills were always very underwhelming by only applying to kugath. I might just try to use a lot of nurglings in his campaign. But overall he seems improved. I never really had an issue with his start position, just with the nurgle mechanics but that seems to be fixed now. The only problem I assume he still has is that diseases can't spread to the settlements in his starting province.

Two things: I'm very happy to see more lord skills applying faction-wide, and I hope CA removed, reduced or changed the plague spread cap for Nurgle, as that basically knee-capped the plague mechanic before.

In all seriousness, with research they get a lot of bound spells. 19 free casts of stream of corruption, blight boil, rancid visitations, and fleshy abundance are enough to win any fight that you're in by themselves. They're also pretty good melee combatants, their only real issue being missile units.

I remember my first time playing with Nurgle was Kugath vs the entire Helman thing, and I thought that guy was just a random undead guy, and I kept losing every campaign at the start against him. And I thought I was just Shit playing nurgle, then I randomly stumbled across a meme about Helman Ghorst and Kugath, and I understood that... it was a special problem, the entire thing.

I enjoyed Ku'Gath before, I don't understand people's problem with him. Nurglings and plague bearers can take on vastly stronger melee units and win, especially if you clump them up. Plagueridden meanwhile decimate the ranged units with spells and charging into them on rot flies.

I just did a Nurgle Campaign post rework and after taking out Ghorst and the minor Ogre faction to the west I spent a few turns consolidating and recruiting before pushing into Cathay. While I was dealing with Zhao Ming, Gelt got wiped out by Lokhir. Before I attacked Lokhir, Greasus decided to attack me after wiping out Drazhoath so I pushed into the mountains and eliminated him and then Grimgor. While I was doing this with my two main armies, Lokhir decided to declare war on me so I had to scramble two swarm armies to defend my eastern cities. After a miraculous win that took out two of his full stacks I pushed into his territory and faced little to no resistance. I finished up at about turn 82 and stopped there because I was strength rank 1 and could steamroll everybody.

Kugath was such a weird campaign the last time I played him. The early game was just so unsatisfying and needlessly hard with how whimsical the cyclical buildings and the recruitment pool felt, which led me to just abuse my way through the game with Kugath's mortis engine effect and his arsenal of spells, surrounding him with a living wall of readily available nurglings. This might be an unpopular opinion, but I never really had problems with money. What made the campaign a slog was the gameplay itself. The autoresolve was fucked, but manually I could win virtually any battle. It was obscenely strong, and with right blob placement on the map I hardly struggled even against the most artilery and AOE spell based armies. Again, it was effective, but unsatisfying, and I didn't feel the incentive to play the game "the right way." I'm not sure if the economy adjustments will fix any of my gripes there.

His campaign was never a problem, u got enough tools to win, u just have to know how his troops perform the best against low rangetroop armies like ghorst and the ogers, and high range troop armies like cathay. The only problem was, that ur economy is pretty bad and u can barely aford buldings in ur settlements while having competitive armies to deal with ur enemies.

I started my first ever Nurgle campaign yesterday and picked Ku'gath as LL... it felt really bad. First Ghorst then Imrik over the water and then Gelt declared war on me. Never having money to build the important buildings... i guess it's just not my kind of playstyle🤷🏼♂️

The dude had only the diplomatic building that all the mono gods leaders had and no other unqiue landmarks.... Its so shitty and annoying that nurgle got no unique landmark buildings. My problems with Nurgle was always... their units are awful, but they don't apply enough penalties to other people except via plagues. When your opponent wasn't plagued you had 0 advantages, and the best strategy you could do was forming a moshpit so you could easily regenerate your units+use AoE spells to hurt the AI. Like "Economically" solving the campaign isn't great, because if you used plagues properly you already weren't economically troubled, you were troubled because combat was awful if an enemy reached you before they were sick.

Nurgle's whole strategy is supposed to be blobbling/attrition. Many of the units apply debuffs either to who they're fighting, or in an AoE around them. Not a big enough debuff to win the fight on their own, but when you have 2 units each applying a different debuff to the enemies nearby, it's a lot easier. Then try 5 different debuffs, or 10, all in a moshpit around your caster/centerpiece, and you're doing work. (And not all of Nurgle's units are bad solo anyways. Chosen of Nurgle are one of the best infantry units in the game, and will even beat the chosen from the other chaos factions. Ku'Gath is the best duelist in the game, as there's not a singular lord or hero that can beat him in melee, not even taking into account that he's also a spellcaster AND an artillery piece) Not everybody's cup of tea, but I find it fun.

Which didn't even have decent cavalry at the time (Because units that were sent flying took 0 damage unless they took fall damage to death). Launch nurgle or free nurgle (Though better than it was at launch) is still awful, because you lack any decent frontline that can kill the enemy, or units that can really benefit from a tarpit frontline besides spell caster.

Has CA addressed the auto-resolve issue with Kugath? Very often absolutely ridiculous foes presented a Valiant Defeat but could barely scratch the regenerating Nurgling horde. This made the while campaign into a slog that never really ceased - basically you had to play every single battle on fastforward not to lose your beefed up main army.

Ya it's super annoying when auto resolve punishes you for making cheap armies because it doesn't take into account the insane buffs they have. On launch he sucked, but sometime afterwards he didn't, I played him and loved him, ghost was never an issue, I just got a few hero's through the resource buildings and snowballed from there. The only thing I didn't like was how expensive the buildings were.

Monsters Abound had it right about the weirdness of retaining cyclical recruitment buildings. It takes you what could be a third of the campaign before they cycle back around to access of the units you're most in need of (potentially desperately so). It's all disadvantage without any advantage to compensate for such a pointless addition.

Unholy manifestations are utterly useless, boring and unimpactful even compared to warhammer 2 rites. The southern wastes being a long, razor-thin strip is very frustrating to defend in early game with one army and much stronger enemies on all sides.

Also i kinda miss the cauldron UI that is before the plague update. They shouldnt remove it. Let it remain and just change the applied mechanics of plague creating that is new now. Another comment, have they changed the defeat trait from Ghorst for Kugath? Getting poison as nurgle is an empty trait.... all nurgle units are poisonous from the start.

3:35 this is literally a skill Kugath has had since launch that youre making out to be some huge improvement. I know you got a lot of content to pump our, but as a nurgle main, I wish you had spent just a bit of time to try him in 4.0 before trying to comment on how he's different in 5.0 as you have some huge errors here....

@@Samagachi yeah that and war hounds do a decent job and are a bit cheaper than rot flies. few Chosen with shields at the front too. Nurgle armies are so incredibly slow, the other issue I've faced is ranged cav that just kite, cant catch em with anything other than flies and hounds maybe?

I dont like his start in fact all the nurgle guys start too close to each other tbh 2 up in the chaos wastes and then empire for festus and then kugath in the dark lands essentially it would have been nice for maybe epidemius be put in naggarond or lustria to get some variety for nurgle factions. In addition if we ever get Tetto'eko this is where i think he should go

Can you get kugath moved before 5.0 launch? In that AI only video you had yesterday, he never moved. if they can swap him and ghorst starting locations, that might work.

They made Kugaths starting Providence MUCH WORSE compared To 4.0.... i dont get why youre saying hes been improved (besides the faction rework). The resource buildings at T3 used to give 15% INCOME to the province and +1 recruit capacity for EACH hero type. There were TWO of these resource buildings in this province totaling a 30% increase in income and SIX additional hero capacity. Im playing kugath right now and when the cyclical buildings are in bloom i can get 6-7K from that single province...... Now these builds just reduce construction cost and cyclical building time.... This is a MASSIVE NERF so im super confused why youre saying kugath is now more fun when his starting area is categorically worse.

A ton of the traits you highlight for Kugath are also the same as 4.0 or WORSE. Kugath has had 15% unclean one upkeep reduction since launch dude - and thus faction wide -10% infection cost is a net negative as his lord ability has been reduced from -50% to -25% - which is way worse as you'll be spending infections on plague on HIS army for most of the start. Most of this video is you describing side/down-grades as big improvements for his campaign. Seems like you just didn't play him before because he is objectively worse in 5.0 in terms of starting position buildings, and unique lord traits.

Holy shit, that medicine production building is just pure GARBAGE. That shit is so awful, it's incredible.. You can build literally any other building and every single one of them will be a better use to you than that trash. I mean +1 turn and +20% chance of plague spreading for ONE FUCKING REGION? What is that? That shoud be factionwide if anything to be useful, not for a single region.. That might very well be the worst building in the entire game, name one that's worse than this.

4.0 these buildings were the LIFEBLOOD of nurgle... They used to provide 15% income for the province AND +1 hero Capacity for EACH hero type. The new affect they have are trash and have made his start wayyyyy worse

Those buffs are ehh... okay. It was clearly a buff. I think requiring rank 7 for the nurgling buffs is unneeded and should just be freely given, those units REALLY suck. He does have a lot of factionwide buffs, but as a whole they don't amount to much. I suppose it's okay to have a lower tier faction, but all 3 of the Nurgle factions looks fairly mid tier as is. Nurgle seems blatantly the weakest of the 3 reworked factions, but it's probably because they started as likely the worst faction in the game period, so they'd need buffs that would seem absolutely ludicrous to be good. At least they can afford their low quality armies now.

climate system needs a rework, daemons should be largely dependent on corruption. and all the other races shouldnt suffer crippling penalties for say, dwarfs conquring ulthuan

As a someone who decided to suffocate myself by playing g an absurd amount of nurgle I can confirm sir that the latter half of your video is rubbish and I can tell you got no idea what your talking about regarding how Kugath plays lol. First half of the video, informative, thanks. But nothing about Kugath’s start is changed other than the plagues which at first glance seem negligible at the start. Kugath’s army is still crap against Ghorst, and is reliant on Ghorst pathing and behaviour to pick him off piecemeal. Kugath did not get additional summons at the start, and the units are not any better.

First half of the video is also just wrong he has been made WORSE The resource buildings no longer provide +1 to each hero type capacity nor 15% income for province buildings - they now reduce cyclical buildings time and construction cost..... a HUGE nerf. They also made heros recruit from the wall and skaven buildings instead of the main buildings - this makes Ghorst FAR harder to deal with because you cant just recruit 2 chaos champion heros to cut him down as he lags behind his army. GBG here also went on for half a minute about how we can now doomstack unclean ones because of a kugath trait that reduces their upkeep........ this trait has been on him SINCE LAUNCH. His other traits are side-grades or downgrades - he's army plague infection cost is now 25% instead of -50% and the -10% faction wide does not make up for this or make it easier at the start. It's clear GBgrudges just hasn't played 4.0 nurgle as he doesn't know how we've been playing them and he's wrong about really basic shit
