There was a different Kublai Khan and they had to change their name, so they went with this. It’s similar to how Architects used to be Architects UK.

The band Ghost used to go by Ghost B.C. for similar reasons. Dir en grey - Schadenfreude live. Widest vocal range in metal.

There are live bands you need to see live and an album’s worth is boring there are studio bands that you want to listen to albums of that suck live, there are bands that do both, awesome albums and awesome shows.
