I never heard about using the vacuum that is a great idea

I have the same tractor and will be replacing my HST filter soon. The manual does not mention about using a vacuum and I have seen other videos change the HST filter without a vacuum. Is is really needed? Thanks!
@ForestToFarmАй бұрын
For us I tried it without the vac. It was gonna dump a good bit of fluid. With the vac we lost very little. I would use it but you could just add fluid after you finish the filter change. Good luck! Terry

I’m curious which filter went top and which filter went bottom of 660 and 670. The old filters will probably be marked..

Any worry about the vacuum causing the system to build up too much air in the fluid? Also, is having to change some of the fluid a good thing?
@ForestToFarm3 жыл бұрын
I personally do not have any concern. I don't think adding a small amount of fluid would make much difference either way but its better than the used fluid already in there so it can't hurt, lol. Terry

A vacuum work. When I did it I lost 1.8 liters :( i wonder if the vacuum did suck any fluid?
@ForestToFarm4 жыл бұрын
Wow that is a lot of fluid. Could there have been a leak prior to changing? The vacuum worked great for us. You have to hold it so a bit of air slips around the hose. At least that is what we did. Terry
@mark980703 жыл бұрын
So wouldn't you just drain the old oil out & replace it while doing a filter change?
@ForestToFarm3 жыл бұрын
They only require a filter change at this stage. Next round its filter and oil. Terry

Thanks! Good idea. I guess we are not your typical father son of the modern times but its working great for us! Two men with a common goal and who care about each other can accomplish great things when working together. We do not fight over who has to do something but rather who gets to do it. Terry

I always keep enough hydro fluid on hand to refill the system. Same with the engine oil and filters. They cost a bit but a definitely worth keeping around. Never even thought about the vacuum trick. Great idea! I also just watched a video from another owner who had his loader hoses rubbing on the bracket that keeps them from flopping around where they loop to connect to the tractor. The Kevlar sleeve had slid down the hoses and left them exposed to the metal and they got all chewed up. Figured I'd mention that to you just in case. Great video, Keep up the great work!

Thanks! And thanks for the heads up on the hoses. I have heard of that but have failed thus far to remedy the situation. Maybe I will remember this time, ha ha. Lots going on here. Terry

Thank you. During the COVID-19 isolations, I decided to do the first 50 hour service on my MX5800 myself. Your video explained everything well and I will have my wife hold the shop-vac to reduce oil loss. One thing, I was surprised that you were wearing such clean trousers and didn't get a spot of oil on them. I wear my worst jeans!

Enjoy these videos especially when I have the same tractor as you. Good information to show and how to. Your maintenance book seems more than what is in the owners manual. Is that available online or somewhere? Thanks.
@ForestToFarm6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes it is online. Its a PDF file downloadable. I think it is actually the same book but we printed it out on one side so there is twice the number of pages making it look bigger. We printed the book/manual so we can keep the actual manual safe and clean. Terry

@@ForestToFarm Where is that strainer? I don't see a reference to it in my B2601 manual. Also, is the 80 mm socket for those filters the size needed for that cap or what?

When I bought my filters from my Kubota dealer, he warned me about the loss of hydraulic fluid. He said to have the new filter ready in hand and be quick. I was as fast as possible and still had to top the trans off with 2 quarts. Next time..the shop vac!
@ForestToFarm6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Very glad you told us that! We ended up using a quart. The quart was not quite full and the tractor was in the safe zone but not at the top level. It was in the middle roughly. So loos like we saved maybe a quart based on what you are saying by using the vacuum. The biggest advantage was we did not have to rush. The air flow into the filter inlet held that fluid back. Terry
@scottjenkins46136 жыл бұрын
The filters alone probably hold a quart

That sounds about right to me. Terry

Let's face it, it's mickey mouse at best. Not a problem you have with Case or John Deer, that's for sure. In any event, you can't just pour fluid into the reservoir and check the dip, it has to be run each time after you add. It's in the manual, so RTFM ;)

Thanks for the input!

apparently mini mouse didn't watch till the end where he stated it still needs to be run and checked again cause the filter were empty.... also mini mouse it says right in the manual step 4 fill till its at the upper line step 5 run the engine for a few minutes then add more till its where it need to be.... don't be a puss all your life mini mouse
