Good job documenting the fuel filter change. I use a pair of needle nose Vice clamp pliers to cinch off the in/out rubber fuel lines. Keeps from spilling fuel during change. One thing I added, at very little cost was a fuel water separator. Over 100 hours it captures about a cup of water. The water comes from condensation in the fuel tank. First time you see the damage that water does to high pressure pump and pistons, you’ll invest the $50.

Thanks so much. you saved me a lot of time and frustration. The manual is no help on this. they could have mentioned that there is no shut-off valve but a spring loaded shut off valve inside the upper housing of the filter unit. my L-3400 won't stop leaking fuel when I spun off the fuel housing. I pushed the little spring loaded shut off several times. may have been gunk in there to keep it from sealing. I also put a clamp on the incoming rubber fuel line and that stopped it. I found a filter but no seals so off to the parts house. I found the easiest way to to pull the plastic filter holder is with a skinny plier. on the outer most ring an pull up slightly and go all the way around and it will start coming out. my tractor is now over 10 yrs old, hydrostatic.,back hoe, bucket , brush hog, box scraper. It has done some incredible work. only regret is that I should have gotten the bigger unit so I could have gotten the backhoe with a thumb. P/O

Great video, but you did not show cleaning the plastic bowel the filter fits into. Thats why I came here to see what you used to clean it with, as somethings like carberator cleaner could damage the plastic! I will search around and find the right solvent, but a little note. I got my filter replacement from the Kabota dealer, (and its not close), and when I opened the box at home, it was not rapped like yours, and did not have the two new O rings. Bummer, but glad I saw they come with the filter (as it should). Back to the dealer I guess! Mine is the B7800. Thanks

I changed my filter last week. It was a no-brainer. So I won't watch this video. ...But I'm still smarting over the $35 that the new one cost from NAPA. And beware, that thin, little o-ring does not come with the new filter.

Out of curiosity, what was the level of fuel when you changed this? Seems like I remember reading that it's best to change with less than 1/2 tank. Maybe with less fuel in the tank, less would spill out when removing and replacing.

Well we know its got to have cab heat, but what about AC? Kubota makes dependable products if a little expensive to buy new. And they make every motor / power plant. Its funny, I had put you on pause to get my coffee and when I returned I noticed the reflection of your windmill in the huge cab windows :-) That is one enormous door. Wow!

You should use cheap forcepts you can get from Harbor Freight to clamp both sides of the lines so you don't get air in the fuel line. Wear rubber gloves always. I have the exact same tractor as you with the cab.

@@TimTools99 Ask any mechanics it works on diesel engines the last thing you want is air in the line of the fuel so don’t take my word for it

@@orionism42 thats what the spring valve is for. It doesn't allow any air to get in the system because it pushes fuel out when activated and stops when set. Never had issues with air in my kubota. Also pinching rubber hoses weakens the plys and in time will have to replace the hose or cut past where you pinch it as it in time ruins the hose.

Did you fill the new filter with diesel fuel before screwing it back on? It looked full but i did not see where you did that.

I think he added fuel to the filter which he really didn’t need to because you probably found out that once you start screwing the bowl on it pushes against the valve and the bowl starts filling with fuel. If you’re good then you get it tightened before fuel gushes over the edges. Im not that good yet.

I see . No.1 What happens to diesel fuel when you remove the fuel filter? /eko / No.2 Diesel fuel and bare hands are dangerous to the skin / safety /. Gloves are not so expensive but doctors ofcourse .
