If you ever get a chance, I would love to see a demonstration of the attachments you can get for this machine; the blade, broom, snowblower... There's no much information out there on them, or demonstrations of them in use. Great video!

Thanks for the video. I don't see too many of these and have read the other comments. My thought on comparison between the Kubota models and John Deere is just like some manufacturers ATVs for example sometimes they do not directly compete. The gr2120 I believe sits between the x590 and x700 series John Deere. The BX 1880 is a notch past the x758 because it can use a loader and has a 3 point hitch. Until you get to the subcompact tractors there's a place in there where it's like comparing apples to oranges. Both brands have great machines. It's just about what you want to do with it. That being said the only thing that I would find disappointing about the gr2120 would be that visually if you take the cover off the back the axle doesn't look visually beefy. Not sure how much weight the tractor moves but not a big deal if you are just using it to mow. May be more helpful for snow removal though. The other thing is that it would be nice to have some different tire options like Carlisle all trails or something more grippy but then the worry would be rubbing up front on the deck with a tight turning radius. Overall both brands are good and Kubota is definitely worth looking into for me next time. I have a little under 2 acres. Not sure if id do this or go to the BX. Basically want for mow and snow.

Thanks for the interesting video Chris. I am presently using a Massey with hydrostatic transmission and hydraulic deck. I do have a super steep incline to mow and that can only be done using aggresive tire chains for traction. The climb is so steep that there is very little ground pressure on the front wheels during the ascend and the tractor just tobbogans, ripping and tearing lawn on the way down . What is the steepest recomended climb angle and the critical climb angle as well as side hilling angles for the GR120?

I'm looking to get one but I am worried that it is really a 3x4 as soon as you start to turn. I need this to also blow snow on my gravel and interlocking driveway - it is u-shaped and as soon as I turn, I may not be able to push through the snow because of it going into 3x4? Also, how high does the front snowblower lift off the ground? I also have to blow snow down steep gravel driveway to the shop. How does this GR2120 compare to the John Deere X739? Or is it no comparison... 739 blows the GR out of the water?

When I visited Lowe's and Home Depot, I couldn't help but notice the absence of high-end mower models on their showroom floors. Instead, they prominently displayed a range of entry-level mowers, which, in all likelihood, catered to the budget constraints of the vast majority of customers. It was evident that these retail giants focused on offering options that were affordable and accessible to the average consumer, which is a smart business strategy. Although Lowe's and Home Depot boasted an extensive selection of mowers, it became apparent that prestigious brands like Kubota and Simplicity were not part of their inventory. These top-tier mower brands were renowned for their superior quality, advanced features, and unmatched performance. However, the premium price tags attached to them made them more suitable for individuals with a more substantial budget for lawn care equipment. Having invested in a Simplicity mower myself, I can attest that it was indeed a substantial financial commitment. The decision to splurge on a high-quality mower was driven by my desire for unmatched precision and durability. Simplicity mowers were reputed to deliver immaculate cuts and were built to last, making them a favorite among avid lawn enthusiasts. However, looking back, I couldn't help but wonder if I had overestimated the need for such a premium mower. In hindsight, I pondered whether opting for a more affordable model from Home Depot could have been a wiser choice. After all, many entry-level mowers nowadays come with decent cutting capabilities and reliability, and they may have provided a satisfactory performance that could rival that of my high-end Simplicity mower. While the allure of owning a top-tier mower was undeniable, the practicality of a cost-effective option should not be overlooked. A cheap mower from Home Depot might have been a viable alternative, offering an appealing balance of functionality and budget-friendliness. In conclusion, the decision to invest in a high-end Simplicity mower was driven by a desire for top-notch performance and long-lasting quality. Yet, in retrospect, it's clear that a more affordable option from Lowe's or Home Depot could have potentially delivered comparable results, making me reconsider my choices for future lawn care investments.

@@WilliamEllison In order to find the better stuff you have to go to a dealer. Once at the dealer, for example your John Deere riding mowers are going to be the X-Series, starting from a lower end lawn tractor up to a diesel powered 4WD garden tractor. To get stuff that lasts, visit a dealer, the box store stuff is fine for someone just starting out, or that has a very small size property...but you get what you pay for, typically the box store stuff don't last nearly as long, and not much in the way of support.

What Deere would this compare to? The 758? Also, does this have any suspension at all? I have husqvarnas biggest garden tractor, which is fine but my property is rough, hilly and not easy to manage. The lack of power steering and 4wd makes it hard to deal with. Not to mention, mowing with locking diff engaged takes even longer because it won’t turn good. It’s just too much for what my mower can handle. It has handled it since 2016 very well, since it works at its absolute hardest and hasn’t died yet. Also the deck is spring assist, so, not practical for my land I would say. I’m looking to purchase this, the Deere equivalent or the simplicity prestige with power steering, suspension, striping kit on it stock. But no diesel.
@wildbill23c
@wildbill23c 10 ай бұрын
Nope, no suspension, just a couple small springs on the seat, and they don't do much...its a rough ride. The X754 has 4 wheel steering, the X758 does not but is 4WD, where the X754 is not 4WD. Personally, yes, I would go with the X758 over the Kubota. The John Deere X758 has a higher horsepower diesel engine 24HP VS the 17HP of the Kubota. The X758 is a bit beefier in build too, the Kubota GR series looks more like a regular old off the shelf box store lawn tractor...sure its 4WD, but doesn't look nearly as heavy duty as the John Deere. Both the X754 and X758 have power steering, but if you got a rough property to mow, I'd certainly get the 4WD X758, the heck with the 4 wheel steer stuff. The X758 also is offered with a 60" deck, the Kubota only has a 54" deck as the largest option. I have a Kubota BX2680 sub-compact tractor, but the JD X758 would be my choice if I was after a garden tractor type mower. Price is high regardless which color you buy, but honestly I'd go with the X758 for your needs. Deck lift on the X758 hydraulic. The X758 does have a rear diff lock, the Kubota GR series does not. Big huge PLUS for the John Deere X758 again, they offer an air ride seat kit so more comfortable than the Kubota would ever be. Gotta say, even though I own a Kubota tractor, I'd definitely pick that X758 as a dedicated mowing machine...and keep in mind its capable of running a front mount snow blower, and some other attachments if you need.

I always figured that the gr2120 sat between the John Deere x590 and the x700 series tractor. The gr isn't as beefy as the x700. The gr looks like something that would be great for mowing and maybe some snow but to do other things like tilling a garden obviously the John Deere has more options.
@justCarner
@justCarner 9 ай бұрын
@@bradleyphillips204 yeah, I hear ya. That’s what’s it seems like to me. Not quite as beefy as x700s, but it is bigger than it looks. I went to look at one in person and they are bigger than my husqvarna glxi54, just more heavy duty in all aspects. The fact that it’s 4wd and power steering with a diesel engine is what I am after so, I honestly don’t know if I can justify the price between the deer and the kubota. My neighbor has the x739 and it’s very nice, but the cost is insane. I think at this point the kubota would suit my needs. I don’t need to till a garden, etc. I just need a mower and potentially a snow plow and that is more than enough to plow snow.
@67L48
@67L48 Ай бұрын
All that discussion left out a key difference. The GR2120 is ~$11,700. The X758 is $17,250 with a 54" deck. So, you're comparing the Kubota to a Deere that costs 50% more. Guess what, you're going to find a more capable machine with the Deere, and you should! The better comparison is to the X590, which is at a more comparable $10K price range with a 54" deck. You lose the diesel engine, but pick up some of the creature comforts (e.g., better dash) that this video mentions that the GR2120 lacks. You also lose the AWD, but pick up a locking rear differential. The X590 boasts 25.5 hp and the Kubota only 17 ... but who knows if and how this matters at all, since the engine technology differences between gasoline and diesel have radical effects on how/when horsepower is achieved.

I've heard a lot of people state the same thing about those Kubota lawn tractors. Given their price point, I'm glad I bought a BX instead that is far more versatile than their over-priced lawn tractors, even though the GR is 4WD, its not nearly as useful overall as the BX is.

IDK, their X758 looks like a dang good garden tractor, and its 4WD and can be had with an air ride seat....at least give you a less teeth jarring ride than every other lawn tractor out there LOL. I have a Kubota tractor, but no way would I waste the money on one of those GR riding mowers.

If you like this style of tractor and love blowing lots of money, the Deere x700 series is a much better unit…much better machine and longevity than the GR…but the Bx is the better all choice…and the earlier Gr’s were absolutely garbage tractors…so much so that I’m surprised kubota didn’t discontinue them…they are a better machine now but they are just too much money for what you’re getting!

The 7 series Deere garden tractors are much bigger and arguably a lot better than the GR2120. But because garden tractor market is so small compared to compact tractors. They are enormously expensive to buy, I have a 1025 a seven series with the same but smaller diesel “1 liter vs 1.3” was literally the same money. This is why I actually recommend the Kabota with the diesel keyword, to anyone who can afford a 7 series or doesn’t have the room. You cannot go wrong with either.
