I like the magnet on the filter. That's a good idea.

Thank you for making this video, it was extremely helpful when I did my service to my L2501DT. You even gave me some tips and tricks I hadn’t thought of.

I agree with your maintenance choices. I use only OEM filters, T6 oil, and Super UDT for hydraulic fluid.

Hello from Arkansas. I am in the market for a compact tractor (have been for quite some time) and I think I have about decided on what you have, the Kubota L2501. I was torn on which type of transmission, but I have about decided on gear driven. We had a gear driven Massey when I was young and I could operate it as quick as I needed! I watched your video about why you chose gear driven over hydrostatic. I am not as handy as you and probably would not be swapping or rebuilding a transmission, but I can appreciate the simplicity of a gear driven machine. Your videos have been very helpful.

Wishy you had commented on how much engine oil to put in. Several p[people say the 6 quarts the Manuel calls for is too much. One man said 5 quarts fills it. What say you ?
@scottfromwhiskeynsunshine305 Жыл бұрын
I noticed the same thing, even the manual lists both 5, and 6 quarts. In my experience, I’d put the 5 qts in the machine, along with the new filter. Run the machine for a few minutes, and check the oil level. Then use the 6th qt to top it off, if needed.

Instead of buying kubota engine oil filters I use a Ford FL1A filter….or a Wix or Puralator! They all have the anti drain back valve in them also. Never had an issue! Easier to come by at the parts stores vs driving to a dealer or ordering online.

What is the brand/model of the strap wrench you use? It looks nice and wide. Thanks for the videos.

I got it from Snap On years ago. Was only $20. The price has gone up quite a bit - shop.snapon.com/product/Oil-Filter-Wrenches/Strap-Oil-Filter-Wrench/A91F

Howdy...had a 69 Buick Electra 👍 I noticed on the Hydro model has a fluid sight gage...on the manual; does it have one or just fill the 7 gal back?
@WhiskeynSunshineOffGrid Жыл бұрын
Well, ours is a gear drive, but they are pretty much the same. I went by the capacity in the manual. It’s hard to see the oil in the sight glass before the 1st oil change. John Deere has a dye, some people add that to their transmission oil so it makes it easier to see in the sight glass.

Do you have any info on the SMALL hand held (not plug in) chain saws - the ones I call girl ones! I think I could manage one of those and want to know what make is good and reasonable price....

We love the Stihl GTA 26 and have done some videos on it, but for the price I have seen a few people saying they like the battery ones from Amazon. Those might work better and the price may be more affordable. One of those would work great for your olive trees and brush around your home. I hope that helps. Take care
