I put the .3 shim in mine. It went from 1850 to 1960 psi. It made a noticeable difference, it will pick up the land scraper with the forks now. I’d say it’s picking up about 75lbs more. Thanks for the video
@JeepinMaxx4 жыл бұрын
Pete - I did the same upgrade last year. I was at 1750. I added a .4 & a .1 shim in addition to the shim that was in there from the factory. Bumped it to 1975 PSI. I'm out of warranty anyway, but I checked with my brother inlaw who works in the service dept. at the dealership, and he said to keep it under 2000 PSI

Thanks for the information buddy. Were you able to feel a difference?
@JeepinMaxx4 жыл бұрын
@@KubotaMonsterBX23S I felt a difference, loader moves quicker at idle, way quicker at 2500 RPM and I can lift one more bag of sand than I used to, so at least 50lb improvement

Pete somehow I totally missed this video! Thank you very much for the plug man. I’m glad I was able to help you in your quest for more pressure even tho you did run into some warentee issues. Iv been real busy in the last month at work and with the holidays which is prolly when I missed this video. Glad to see all is going well and fantastic job making this video. If I could have a do-over now with a little more KZbin experience I would prolly make mine a little bit different but thanks again Pete you are a man of your word.

PS. One thing to keep in mind when you do your next pressure test is to make sure you go to full revs before testing it.. you should be around 3,000-3,200 RPMs otherwise your test won’t be accurate.. the faster your motor spins the faster your hydraulic pump will spin so to get a true reading you need to max out your RPMs thus maxing out your hydraulic pump.. Aside from that you did great 👍🏻 mine is currently set at 2,000 psi and the difference was HUGE. I am constantly over-working my little bx tho so I may notice the difference more than others lol. See you in the next one Pete!

Very good vid, Pete. What model is your 23 and year? Mine is a 2015 BX2370 and it shakes, rattles and rolls when I start it up. Yours sounded like a car starting. Cheers, Bob

That limit is by design to keep you from lifting a heavy weight high enough to tip your tractor over. Yes you can increase the limit but when you roll it over it's all on you.

Funny, I use the same scaffolding to store stuff in my garage.

The forks add a lot of weight in addition to the mulch. While the forks are a nice option, they reduce the capacity of the FEL by more then the 200 lbs of the forks because the load is pushed farther away from the FEL pivot pin. The lift to full height is calculated at about 500mm from the pivot pin. It seems that in order to keep the cost of this entry level tractor down; they used, a lower flow hydraulic system. As you have probably noticed. You have to crank up the RPMs on the engine to get any kind of movement out of the FEL or backhoe. Other models will models will move the FEL quite well a idle. It was very nice of your salesman to let you know about the warranty issue. However now you have the gauge and shims. This will allow you to keep you pressure in specs if it drops below 1800 psi. Nice video.

I need to up my pressure as I know it's on the weak side. I will check with a gauge to be certain first.

Thanks for your video. I have a BX23S that I bought new (200 hrs now). Just got the BXPANDED gauge on and it gave me a reading of 2300. Asked the dealer about it and he said it had to be attached to the pressure relief valve (guess I need an additional adapter) to get an accurate reading. Whats your take on that ? Thanks, Jeff
@KubotaMonsterBX23S3 жыл бұрын
If your hooked up to ANY hydro valve you should read about the same on all of them. Not sure if your dealer knows what he is talking about. Sounds like your PSI is pretty high. I need to bump mine up a little bit more lol.

@@KubotaMonsterBX23S So I found a washer under the spring instead of a shim. Replaced with a .3 and it came out right at 1850. Dealer for some reason didn’t think it was a big deal.

So does the spacer stiffen the spring on the relief pressure so the pressure increases?

Pete... it’s not the hose blowing that will get you, it’s what the entire system will take... I’m certain the system has a safety margin built in. Don’t forget, you are measuring static pressure. As you bounce along, poke into obstructions and the like... the system will experience shock loads in excess of static pressure. That said, I haven’t a clue what the upper limit would be. But, there is one thing you could have done to increase the ground clearance for that load. The loader is built with greater breakout force than lift force. And, the closer you have the weight to the pivot the leverage is greater. Next time, Stab that bag as deep as you can with the forks pointed downward. Then roll your bucket back. It will carry higher and provide more ground clearance.... the same principal works with loads in the bucket.

Kubota Monster you’re welcome. I enjoy watching you try different things... it gives me ideas and makes me want to go out and fire up my baby Bota! I spent yesterday cleaning out a fence row in the river bottom that was plugged with driftwood. It had taken out about 800 yds of barbed wire fencing. The grapple and log tongs got a real workout. Today I get to burn the piles and dig post holes. Can’t wait for my grandson to show up and get started. He’s 16 and it’s about time to teach him how to use the backhoe!!!

I’m curious to see what the lift capacity is without the kit at 1850 PSI and what it is after you install the kit and it gets up to 1950 PSI, are we talking 50 more pounds lift capacity or 100🤷🏼♂️
@KubotaMonsterBX23S4 жыл бұрын
Good question!!! I'll find out in the springtime and make a update video
@chadbrown79274 жыл бұрын
I’m definitely interested in this, I’ve noticed that my FEL struggles to pick up a full load of rock, if this gets another 100 pounds or so that will make a world of difference!

Chad Brown I plan on making a video in the spring of a comparison with my crane scale.. stock pressure vs 2,000psi shim kit lifting with the crane scale for accuracy.. that is unless Pete beats me to it 😝

Pressures not the problem, the real problem is that the cylinders are way to small, go with a bigger bore cylinder.

Pete - you probably know this, but your Kubota has 100% metric size bolts. So if you're using a standard size socket, while it no doubt fits, probably there's a metric size that fits better. Some are very very close though. Great videos!!!!
@KubotaMonsterBX23S4 жыл бұрын
You are correct! It is a metric size, but I didn't have the metric socket and found the the 7/8 socket worked fine so I used it. Good catch though lol. Your the first one to say something. Thanks for watching and the comments.

Chris S when you don’t need it all the time and you just need a little extra every blue moon 🌚, it don’t pay for most of us sub compact Tractor owners to go with a bigger tractor. This machine is more then what most of us need already for around the house. And these things are available for purchase for a reason. Thanks for the comments buddy.
