The Politics of Endorsements, Legal Fights, and Utah Hockey [THE HINCKLEY REPORT 10/11/24]

With election day about a month away, candidates are making their final push to reach undecided voters and prominent voices like Sen. Mitt Romney are weighing in on the state of politics. We discuss his comments about presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. Plus, why this unique election cycle has both major campaigns reaching out to Latter-day Saint voters in neighboring states, and the spillover effect that is having here in the Beehive State.
Also this week, a Utah judge ruled that votes on another proposed amendment to the state constitution will not be counted. If passed, Amendment A would have expanded how the state can spend income tax revenue. This decision means that the amendment proposal will still appear on ballots, but the votes won't be counted. This ruling follows a similar decision from the Utah Supreme Court regarding the fate of Amendment D. Our panel discusses what this means for the two constitutional amendment proposals that are, as of now, still on the ballot.
Plus, the National Hockey League is officially in downtown Salt Lake City. After their first home game at the Delta Center, learn about the economic impact the Utah Hockey Club could be having and the possible political impact of professional sports expanding in the state's capital city.
