I love seeing a legit Garrett on a car worth less than half of the turbo value 😂. You don't really NEED 2 cams on the street, single cam can easily max out street tires. This is a smart well thought out build. I'm impressed with the reliability mods, heat wrapping and attention to venting the crank case. This guy gets it. I would recommend some Jazzercise bumper stickers though. edit: just saw the flex pipe on your wastegate dump, top notch stuff

Garrett's overrated these days the reliability after moving the manufacturing is huge. They sell on their old reputation these days.

@@dr.mantistoboggan4746 most of them are Mexico and India. When Honeywell went to Mexico the returns were huge n I moved to Borg Warner. Even though they're made in china the huge factory they set up over there seems better quality and prices. I've not run a Garrett since the GTX 2 days though. I can't afford to trial multiple turbos and mate no longer works for a supplier/repairer so dont know how the g series are.

@@dr.mantistoboggan4746 I love how much power us dynos seem to make haha. It's ridiculous how much numbers they make compared to Australia. I made 387 with an rb 25 with 260 hks cams on 23 psi . Was an absolute weapon. Ive fitted a couple of those and reccomended the Arashi and kinugawa before for bolt on upgrades they're good. If the parts are Kando dynamics. If they're using Kando parts like rumoured they've made OEM turbo parts for manafacturers in South East Asia for a very long time mainly trucks and plant. If manifolds have been made I've just gone for t4 twin pulse Borg Warner bush turbos the last ten years. They're the one in my book .

@@hayden6056 it was on a mustang dyno which usually read a little low. Hub dynos are best but hard to find. I had an excellent tuner and told him to push the limit because it's not my daily. This was at 4,000 ft too, 60 deg F.

The reason the exhaust manifold cracked is because of the weight of the turbo. You need to place a bracket to support the turbo and not rely on the manifold to hold all that weight.

I agree, spot on observation. im honestly surprised that shop did such a bad job on the repair. They shouldve gotten more information from the owner to make a better product or supporting mods for future builds. A guy and a few buddies giving a step by step document series on how to build and turbo a motor without having a fancy shop or equipment. If anyone has recommendations on any other KZbinrs that create this type of content please please let me know. I could watch such videos for hours on end.

I love your videos! For content ideas, most definitely a full build breakdown, things you wish you would have known or done differently, and I’d most definitely love to see another sleeper build! Good point on not being able to surprise someone that already sees it coming, but they wouldn’t see a swapped Honda odyssey or another sleeper type with a turbo and/or on spray coming! It would be great seeing another inconspicuous car be built by you and absolutely hilarious if you jumped in on roll races in Mexico! You’d sure upset some folks! Hope you have a great day man!

That's why I stick to Hondas, I had an 04 WRX and it sucks having 2 separate heads on a 4 cylinder, 2 head gaskets to fail, etc. I always hated the tortured unequal headers too. The intake tract sucks, how it's under the intake manifold, makes a stock location turbo hell to work on.
@aztharz5637
@aztharz5637 Жыл бұрын
@dr.mantistoboggan4746 Yeah, they are temperamental cars, I've treated mine well and never had any major issues at 140,000km. Spark plugs looked the same per cylinder, and I even bore scoped each cylinder. Ringland failure is always on my mind, so I take good care of it. The only gripe I have is that the paint from the factory is absolute garbage, chips way too easy. Next year I'm putting in an iag 950 longblock in, closed deck, all forged internals. Just need to save another 10k for my build, but then I'll be able to do everything at once
