I have taken the Copenhagen-Oslo ferry. I recommend getting one of the rooms with a balcony, or access to the first class outdoor deck. Makes all the difference. Also if you haven't tried Hurtigruten in Norway then I highly recommend it, it is on the more expensive side but worth it. If one is lucky during winter one have an awesome view of the northern lights from the boat. If you have any questions about traveling in the Nordics, then feel free to message me. I have lived and worked in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland.

Hurtigruten is not a short term classical ferry experiment..more a cruise travel..
@dexthedrone
@dexthedrone 3 жыл бұрын
@@peter7811 Yes and No. If one take the entire or a longer part of it then it is more like a cruise. However one can just take it for a few stops. like 1 or 2 and then it is more like a typical ferry ride. I have for example taken it 1 stop between Tromso to Silsand, which is a 4-5 hour trip. I then did not pre-order a ticket or anything but just walked on the boat in Tromso and paid there, and then jumped off at the next stop. For these shorter trips you got the option to get a cabin or just roam the ship.

I used go on trips with the Oslo ferry with my parents back in 90's, and it was always a lot of fun, there were great food and drink, a place with arcade games, a cinema, and probably a lot of other stuff I don't remember... last time I was on the ferry was about 10 years ago going back to Copenhagen from Oslo (me and my dad rode our bikes there) and it still as great as I remembered... I never tried any of the luxury stuff though, but besides the buffet there was a few expensive restaurants as well...

Thank you for this video. When you next visit Europe I would recommend taking the ferry from Helsinki to Stockholm. It leaves about 18:00 in the evening and calls into the Åland Islands en route. One of the best things about this trip is that when you wake up in the morning the ferry is sailing through the Swedish archipelago where there are hundreds of islands each with their own little red wooden cottage. It's stunning.

Things are looking up for international travel. Japan is looking into "vaccine passports" for Japanese here who want to leave the country and go abroad. It won't be too long until tourism and non-essential travel starts up again soon 👍. Life in Japan can be very relaxing. back in 2009, I had taken a ferry cruise overnight from Stockholm to Helsinki for a day trip before taking it for another night back to Stockholm. We were on board M/S Mariella operated by Viking Lines. Our coach was also transported inside. I enjoyed your ships and train videos very much because I enjoy taking them as transport along with airplanes. I do not know Japanese well and hopes someday I can travel like you do in Japan, such as taking ferry from a place to Hokkaido or other parts of Japan. For traveling around UK and Europe, I did either by coach or trains, and most of the time I would be so tired and sleep all the way :D If you have not, I like to suggest you to cruise on M/S Nippon Maru by Mitsui OSK Lines. I love that vessel, and 1 of the things I had enjoyed is the grand bath facilities. Another tip to share, if you or anyone is cruising internationally, please go to the top deck to look at the flags. It will always show the flag of the next arrival country.

About Europe: Several years ago I took a round-trip ferry (Viking Line) between Stockholm and Helsinki. The ferries leave late in the afternoon and arrived the next morning. I booked a cabin. It was inexpensive to book, but food on the ferry wasn't cheap. The ferry was nice, but not as nice as the ferry here. There's another ferry line called Tallink Silja Line. I've never been on them, because they're more expensive, but those ferries are supposed to be nicer. I suggest for anyone visiting Stockholm who has an extra couple days to visit Helsinki by taking a ferry trip there.

About Europe's ferries - all most well known ones are in the Baltic Sea. The more countries they visit - the better. Nordic people go to Russia to drink cheap, Russians and go to Nordic countries to enjoy civilization, and everyone go to see the Norway fjords. However, since there are about 15 different countries in Baltic and around, I'm afraid most of these cruises are either cancelled, postponed, or will include only 2-3 countries at best (since most countries, have different policies regarding you-know-what, even between EU ones regulations are different).

I prefer the ferry of Color-Line, which runs daily from Kiel in northern Germany to Oslo. The departure from Kiel is at 2p.m. and it's arriving in Oslo on the next morning at 10 a.m.. It's really a good journey through the islands of Denmark up to the north! 🙂 I also enjoy the journey back to Kiel, when the ferry goes along the wide Oslo-Fjord to the south! Departure in Oslo is also 2 p.m. I enjoyed the journey back home, too.

It was quite nice, though except for the several hours going through the Stockholm archipelago you will mostly just see open ocean. I did at least get some nice photos of the ship being completely surrounded by fog one morning :) The inside was clean and comfortable with a good breakfast and some decent restaurants. I think it took about 17 hours one way, then 6 hours ashore and then about 17 hours back again for a total of maybe 40 hours. The Stockholm ferry terminal had a check-in desk specifically for Japanese tourist groups, so they probably get a decent number of Japanese tourists now and then.

I took a ferry from Greece to Italy in 2014 and it was really great! i wouldn't recommend if you get seasick because it moved a lot but it wasn't so bad! I didn't pay for it so I don't know the price but it didn't seem like a bad deal for whatever the organizers paid.

I have seen a lot of ferry videos, first time I see a dog. Wow about the trains going underneath the ocean.

Judging by the decor, it looks like they have not refurbished that ship since the 1980's. 😛Aesthetics aside, I always enjoy your videos. Thank you.
