I was who found and edited most of the pieces of the works recorded in this CD, I found them by accident when I was looking for music by Christoph Graupner in Darmstadt, the city where Vogler finally died. I was blown away just by looking at the old manuscript, I'm so happy the London Mozart Players liked his pieces as much as I did!

Very dramatic symphony for 1782! Vogler taught Carl Maria von Weber, so now it is obvious where Weber learned his sense of musical drama.

I would rather say that he is as good as Mozart & comp. Exaggeration is always misleading. And it's a pity they had such a bad opinion about him.

Wasn't this Vogler active in Mannheim? When W A Mozart went through there he made some friends but this Vogler guy wasn't one of them I read somewhere smewh

The picture looks a little like the Fortezza Vecchia at the entrance to Livorno's harbor.

Mozart hated Vogler and called him a dilletant. Vogler was like a Beethoven and too radikal for M. Vogler emigrated to Sweden and stayed there as a composer for 12 years. His Hosianna is an obligatory christmas song in Sweden in advent.

I’m only here cause I share his name. Awesome history though. I don’t know enough music theory to fully appreciate this work though.
