Hello Claudia, I was wondering can Kumihimo be woven around a core like a length of rope, so that there is a decorative pattern over the core/rope?

Hello Johnny, sorry for my late answer. Yes, in principle, you can do so. But you have to choose a suitable braiding scheme. It has to be a round shape, such as Yatsu Gumi, Kongo Ply, Tsukushi Ply, Oimatsu Ply, Marukara Gumi, Nara Ply, Naiki Ply, only to name a few.

In this pattern, you work from above to below. And you could do this with a Kakudai!

Many thanks for the quick reply. I did a search for Kakudai, and came up with lots of taps?? However on photo did show a square top, is that correct?

Yes! It has got a square mirror, and you braid "around" this mirror. I can't send a photo. But please write "Geoffrey Morgan" (see message below). He built a Kakudai for me.

Hi Maria, you can see the strands very clearly in minute 0:34: 8x white (normal thickness), 2x purple (half thickness, 2x fuchsia (triple thickness). Also, it is written there ... ;)
