Another thing: Wasn’t Kai supposed to be dead DEAD. Like he got exploded in the spirit realm, almost like the director didn’t pay attention to what happened and just wanted him to return for fanservice . Great job 👏🏻🥲

Yeah, I kind of had issues with that- and I’m not even against the idea that Kai’s consciousness COULD have come back, but even IN that case, I think he’d have a LOT longer to go. Basically I imagine that Kai was spending ALL his time in the spirit realm learning his chi mastery, and that means he took until Oogway died to get enough power- and now he has to not only take all that time to get the chi back, but he also has to reconstruct himself from motes of consciousness- he’s not coming back in POES lifetime.

Spirit realm is the after life. In case you haven't noticed why Kai was there in the first place. Kung fu panda 3 Oogway's backstory was literally explained minutes after they found the scroll 😂😂 explaining Oogway banished Kai to the spirit realm so Kai was still alive dying in the spirit realm he would not be Dead dead.

Spirit Realm where people that dies goes or uses some special means such as Oogway teleporting from kung fu panda 1 or the wuxi finger hold. Or the portal that the Chameleon made. I don't understand how you can accept Shen dying and him being in the spirit realm but not Kai dying in the spirit realm and not being allowed to stay there.

Uhm no? Kai was not dead he wss not an spirit. Kfp 3 the scroll Sifu reads about Kai and Oogway explained. Oogway banished Kai to the spirit realm hence Kai is technically alive and not dead. Banishing isn't = dead. Spirit realm is the after life and Oogway didn't die in Kung fu panda 1 rather he himself teleported himself to the spirit realm.

My question is: What else is there to tell about Po? I mean, his "hero's journey" is over. He has become the strongest warrior in China, defeating Tai Lung, Shen and Kai (I don't count the Chameleon), he has fame, mystical powers, etc., etc. And then what? I mean they told who he was, they told about his traumas and then who he really was, the fourth movie is detectably like the spin-off show, so the next villain should either be on par with Godzilla or a true champion of both mystical and martial strength. What will they do next? Are they going to make Po fight Sun Wukong?

Hello, I share your views on this movie. As a KFP fan who grew up with these movies, it was a letdown. Dreamworks should understand the core audience that keeps the franchise alive are those adults who were kids as the films were released. They should target that audience. KFP 2 is considered the best movie of the KFP franchise because it had a very mature plot so adults could enjoy it and there is subtle humor added to it so kids would have fun. Probably, that was the time when Dreamworks targeted a mature audience. Here are my other thoughts: It was such a "Nothing Burger" movie, it was painful to watch. You may like such a "nothing burger" as it has all the ingredients done well but it wouldn't impress you, you'd quickly forget about the restaurant it was sold a day after. You'd go to the restaurant that serves excellent burgers that will blow your mind with wonderful taste (KFP1, KFP2, and KFP3) What a waste of character development, themes, villains, and stakes. Everything was sacrificed for the sake of comedy to the point we could not even learn how the characters think or feel as they kept throwing quips or were used for comedy. So when the serious scene happened I felt absolutely nothing because it was. not. earned. How dare they reuse the scene with Tigress and Po in Gongmen prison and apply it between Po and Zhen. I laughed hard and got angry when I saw that. "You did not earn it at all" I didn't care about Zhen as she has no likeable qualities as a person and should not be a dragon warrior. Li and Ping subplot is a literal filler to replace Furious Five. They have no character development and they are only there for one Deus Ex Machina moment. I could feel the lack of Furious Five oh so much :( If they wanted to save money on voice actors they should have replaced them after 8 years. If they wanted to reduce characters, just send Tigress with Po and Zhen on that mission. Tigress would have balanced the comedy a lot. The movie needed that. We can blame the director Mike Mitchell for taking this franchise that way as the writers have been the same since KPF1. I do not want this director to work on KFP5. He had such control over the story the writers could not salvage it. KFP4 was the movie when Mike Mitchell had full creative freedom, and KFP2 was when Jennifer Yuh Nelson had almost full creative freedom. The difference in writing and story quality is mindblowing. It is so frustrating because fanfic writers could write a more engaging and mature story that respects the previous 3 movies and characters. The KFP franchise deserves better and tells mature stories that would move adults' hearts and minds, with a bit of comedy here and there. Calling KFP movies "kids' movies" is an insult to animation as a form of art to tell the story.

Fenghuang from the tv series was a way better villain than Chameleon, she had an awesome design, cool voice, and cool backstory and ending to her story. To a lesser extent, Ke Pa from the enter the dragon two parter was way better than Kai, also Kai being brought back makes no sense since he was destroyed in the spirit realm and the spirit realm is for kung fu masters only so Shen shouldn’t be there.

How to make the best movie out of the 3. 1. At the start we should get backstory of the chameleon and have her story take place around the time shifu trained tai lung, their are bandits constantly robbing her, and her family made the chameleon hope for a champion. Soon she hears of a new student being trained at the jade palace. And eventually we get new story showing tai lung protecting the valley which he most likely did for a long time since both shifu and oogway felt no need for a furious 5. Anyways She keeps hoping that this new hero will come save her until one day tai lung actually does help her putting her full faith in him after this, of course until she hears that her hero betrayed the valley and attacked the people. This then caused the bandits to come back and likely caused a lot of chaos throughout the valley since tai lung was the only member actively protecting the valley. Feeling betrayed by her hero she then seeks out a way to train herself but is shut down by everyone not because of her size but because of her drive we will change it to her wanting revenge against the bandits which goes against the code “you are not supposed to go and pick fights with people just because you know they are bad it is only to protect the innocents.” So feeling even more betrayed she wonders home after her travels and stumbles across some witch hut place “idk trying to find an excuse for magic since there are literally no characters who have this” and she sees a lady performing magic, getting an idea she begs the witch to teach her and she eventually does. The witch teaches her defensive magic from a book that is basically for magic spells and doesn’t really harm people, the chameleon at this point is fine with this but is bothered she cannot learn from the forbidden section of the book. After this the chameleon forms a close bond to the witch and goes home to visit family, unfortunately she is confronted by the bandits again and while she is strong her magic can do nothing agains the bandits do to their numbers and she is defeated. She returns to the witch and begs her to teach her the forbidden magic but refuses and causes the witch to have to kick her out. Like Kai feeling betrayed by her closest friend comes back in the dead of night and steals the book, but is confronted by the witch who is then defeated by the chameleon using the forbidden magic and steals her magic, likely killing her in the process. This then leads the chameleon down the path of being power hungry absorbing the powers of everyone who wronged her or she deems evil. She saves other lizards throughout the valley and this is why she has the army of lizards they feel in debt to her since she saved them. Soon she hears of the new dragon warrior and his battles with tai lung, kai, and shen as well as many others. She however does not like this since the last time she put her faith in a so called “dragon warrior” it ended in disaster. She wonders how she will be able to defeat him since she knows at this point her magic isn’t strong enough. Until she hears about Po returning from the spirit world using his mystical staff, she knows if she can get that staff she likely will be able to congregate hundreds of evil warriors from beyond the grave so that she can absorb their power and become strong enough to defeat Po and bring true peace to the valley. She then gets the staff and like before summons all of those before, until she thinks of tai lung, when she brings him back she speaks to him and ask him “do you remember me? How you saved me all those years ago? Yes, you do, and I put my faith in you to protect me and my family and what did that get me? NOTHING!” As they battle Kai is shaken by this because he hasn’t thought about how his choice effected the people he saved since before he was blinded by rage but this Kai has had time to heal in peace knowing that he was defeated and there was nothing he could do anymore. This causes the slightest opening and she takes it to steal his powers. 2. Po and his friend as they travel begin to notice people that have fighting capabilities beyond that of a normal person and like how oogway picked the furious 5, poo goes on a similar path finding his own new furious 5. With the fox girl basically becoming the leader like Tigres was. 3. The reason the furious 5 where not in the story was because like po they all became masters. And since po was strong enough to handle himself and the valley they left to protect other valleys across China. This is why they needed a new furious 5 since while po might be strong he still is having issues keeping the valley 100% safe without exhausting himself. 4. After po and his new team defeat the chameleon he notices tai lung and vice versa, he sees how much he has changed and as his final act as dragon worrior offers tai lung the position. Tai lung stops and thinks about everything that has happened in his life, and thinks back to the moment he and po fought and po told him “there is no secret ingredient, it’s just you” and tai lung gets shaken, for the first time he thinks about what he truly wants and he tells po, “no, not right now at least. I’m… not ready for a responsibility that big after everything I did… po then walks up to him and tells him that is the same way he felt, the burden at the start was almost more than he could handle at times. But I have walked that path and if you’d like I can walk you through it, tai lung moved by this bows to po, while the other villians just roll thier eyes and ask “not to ruin the moment but can you send us back we are tired of looking at your happy little ending” as po apologizes and lets them go “it’s much better than how they all bowed because they 100% would not do this”. 5. We then see Po and tai lung at the ceremony to announce to the public the new dragon warrior, shifu and everyone is there and shifu looks at kai after everything and tells him the same thing from the first movie “I’ve always been proud of you” as Po tells tai lung to come out and announces that he is the new dragon warrior the people although kinda off put since they remember what he did all those years ago begin to come around as tai lung bows and tells everyone how sorry he is and that he will work every day to fix what he did all those years ago, tai lung gets nervous thinking that they still won’t accept him but he hears a clap, and then another, until the entire crowd erupts in cheer and he stands up and smiles as the movie ends.

I was losing interest in DreamWorks around the late 2010s, seeing how crappy projects came to light while great projects went down the drain. I didn’t fall into the bandwagon when puss in boots the last wish came out, and seeing how they’ve done with their recent movies I’m a bit glad I didn’t. I sometimes thought something was wrong with me when it came to my feelings about DWA but seeing you say these things makes me feel less alone

Movie sucked destroyed everything Kfp 1, 2 and 3 has worked for. Those three were literally Po's growth. 1. Physical 2. Mind 3. Spiritual 4. Change (yet failed to execute and was garbage scripting) Kung fu panda 3 Oogway explained why Po was even picked when Oogway couldve picked Tigress and ignored Po. People seem to not understand how seriously kung fu panda 4 has messed up alot of things.

Ppl. I think I have an Idea of how and why Tailung, Shen and Kai were so respectful towards Po. Cause they r Curses. Following the concept of Jujutsu Kaisen, considering that all three villains are quite negative, but still functional, they would be at ease by torturing the crap outta Chameleon. She's a petty thief if we could rule out that Presonal Chi is like currency for the dead. But unlike her stepdaughter, she's got no redeeming qualities. So she [KP4 Villain] would suffer hell brought to her by all the spirits and curses that she stole from. 😊

Kung Fu Panda 4 was the worst movie in the franchise so far. Yet from only watching it once. Having not seen it since it came out in theaters. I kinda liked it, however I need to see it again. In order to have a definitive opinion on the movie. However, I don’t really think I’ll change my opinion that much.

I don't see Megamind vs. the doom syndicate as a real seqeul to megamind so I see that's fine. If it were a real sequel, it would be done by dreamworks themselves. I find that the only reason people hate it is because they think it is a sequel to the first movie, if they didn't, they would rate it higher. Dreamworks has been doing well in 2023 too, so yep the studio's not dead. Yes kfp4 is a great addition to the franchise.
