I too wasn’t sure the first time I watched this if I would enjoy this movie either. But when my heart broke 💔 after Master Oogway left for the Spirit Realm… & I realised that they wrote these characters so that you really CARED for their lives… THEN I was fully invested. Po, The Furious Five, the whole world they created here.

Shifu should definitely blame himself for how Tai Lung turned out. He adopted Tai Lung and named him “great dragon” which is what the name translates to in Chinese. Tai Lung wanted to be the dragon warrior simply to make Shifu proud but Shifu never acknowledged him. What’s worse is the there was never an intention to apologize until Shifu was forced to, because in the 20 years Tai Ling was in prison, Shifu never spoke to him.

I mean yeah, but no, Shifu did praise and acknowledge Tai lung, that was part of the issue. Shifu raised and trained Tai lung, but he never prepared him for failure. He was raised full of praise from Shifu, convinced this was his destiny, trained all his life for one goal. The possibility that it was not meant for him never was even told to him. He wasn't humble because he was never taught that lesson, and that lack of humility is what made master Oogway not trust him to be the dragon warrior who needed to be humble and have empathy for everyone. But you are also right, in the end Tai Lung who had never faced failure, felt that he was letting Shifu down by not being the dragon warrior, and in his desperation to still be seen as valid he lashed out, and instead of correcting him, Shifu imprisoned him, and all that need for acknowledgment turned into resentment. And sadly Shifu overcorrected when raising Tigress, she was the one raised with out any praise and acknowledgement.

Kung Fu Panda is one of Jack Black's best movies. It teaches important lessons about kung fu and funniest moments. RIP Michael Clark Duncan who played Commander Vachir 🐼🐼🐼🐉🐉🐉🤣🤣🤣

A non-spoiler thing I need to mention about 2! I promise it is NOT a spoiler in any way! My favourate thing about this series is something I only caught about a year ago. At the start of the second movie, Mr. Ping (Po's dad) invites people into his "noodle and tofu shop"... a subtle little message that it is never too late to pursue your dreams!
