Both have horror in a common idea: not being able to find the humanity in a fellow human. You can't connect with a silent sociopath any more than a loony lunatic. But again, it depends on the context. If you're talking to silent sociopath, and midway through the conversation, you realize that he/she is an unhinged and homicidal sociopath, that is terrifying. Likewise, if you're in a claustrophobic hallway, and all of a sudden, a loud, rambling lunatic rushes at you from behind a corner, that is also terrifying. It all depends on the situation.

OtomostheCrazy I know I’m a little late to the party, but if I remember correctly the pale lady in the book is actually forcing the main character within the story to leave the place she’s staying. Only to move somewhere else where she actually encounter the pale lady outside of the dream. Implying the pale lady was tricking the character to leave a place she was actually safe, and only to end up in actual danger. Although in the end the MC is able to get away from the danger anyway
@OtomostheCrazy4 жыл бұрын
The Supreme King I don’t remember that, so I took a look at the story again. The Artist woman wasn’t scared out of where she was living, she was moving anyway. She thought the Pale Lady and the dream were describing where she was headed (Kingston), when it was really describing where she would ultimately run away from (Dorset). So it doesn’t seem like a trick.

What I find odd about this scene is how not clear I feel that is. In the comment section people are talking about how there is only one of this creature and it teleports into your field of vision. But if that is the case then why can we see the creature behind the kid. It shouldn’t be there is there is only one of it. So now you are probably thinking, “Okay, cool, so then there must be multiple of them.” But here is the thing. That assumes that we are looking at the monster from the kids perspective. But in the shots where we see it behind the kid we may be meant to assume we are looking at it from are perspective. And since it can only appear in are field of vision it will be behind him. This is further evidenced by the fact that at times we switch to a first person point of view. If we weren’t switching to the kids perspective (first person) at times, then why would the third person also be the kids perspective. But here is the second thing, I am assuming that it can teleport to different perspectives for different people. If there is only one of it then why would it be able to do that? Now, if you couldn’t tell from me not naming the main character in this scene it haven’t seen the film. So if the movie goes into detail about this creatures abilities could you please tell me. If you can’t tell I have thought about this a lot. But if no one answers I will just carry on with my life believing that this is just something the people making the film didn’t think about.
@Tristan18863 жыл бұрын

I've found that each monster reflects the character it attacks in some way. The Big Toe: the boy that is attacked by the monster is obsessed with what goes in food. The Big Red Bump: the girl was clearly obsessed with vanity and also had a fear of spiders. The Pale Lady: the boy she attacks is always seen snacking. She literally consumes him. Me Tie Dough Tee Walker (or whatever it was): it's a monster that literally falls to pieces. The boy it attacks talks about his fear of vietnam after his brother came back in "pieces" The ghost: obviously, the girl was misunderstood like the ghost. Probably people have also noticed these but I'd just thought I'd share them.

The Pale Lady is a little bit different. The snacking thing is fine, but the real symbolism, I feel, is that he coveted women only to meet his demise at the hands of a woman that coveted him. I think the snacking part made more of an impact in exactly how she killed him.
