I trained karate for years and I have never seen it as well applied as I had read it was mentioned in old karate books to be more perfect I just needed to have the newasa and nagewasa techniques, congratulations to Shorinjikempo that shows much more than several styles that killed the art base
I enjoyed my teachings from Sensei kinoshita in sasebo Japan, shorinji kenpo is awesome and the headquarters is a beautiful place.

It looks like Jeet Kune Do concepts and how he move his arm to thrust his fingers or to palm the opponent.

This style reminded me of Kyoshiro from the Samurai Showdown video game. Mainly the weighted front stance is at the same angle as the Sensei stance even though front leg is slightly lifted. It seems like he is reading more of the shoulders of his opponents. Or a capital T in English; shoulders and torso center line. Really awesome techniques!
I always believed that protective gear of this kind would improve drastically some day the realism of Kumite in Karate-Do. The transition to a semi-contact, but in the same time protected fight would add realism to competitive Karate championships. The introduction of close-combat techniques to Kumite is essential so that the contestants stop grabbing each other's sleeves whenever they come to close distance during the Kumite. I very much like the full-faced helmet presented in this video as well as the semi-contact fists to the face ( they do not aim to kill, but the effect is realistic ).
@zshakur2 жыл бұрын
I know what u mean, but grabbing the sleeves is part of the technique. It's from the old ways and has merit. It just gets sloppy in competition.
@hichemgymart66152 жыл бұрын
Watch the realism of kyokushinkai!
@catfood_03_4stray2 жыл бұрын
@@hichemgymart6615 You mean the semi-realism. In Kyokushinkai the hits to the face, to the solar-plexus and to the private parts are stricktly prohibited. A potential fighting style that with the aid of technology would provide a safe environment to deliver hits without restriction is the only one that should be called real.
@catfood_03_4stray2 жыл бұрын
@@zshakur Grabbing sleeves and aplying throw-techniques ( like Judo ) are welcome, but on the other hand one should allow close combat hits. If somebody is fast enough to apply his Judo technique in time ( before he gets a fast slap or a nukite ) he merits to be credided with the relevant points, not because of the restricting rules.
@hichemgymart66152 жыл бұрын
@@catfood_03_4stray During training, they are not prohibited. Points where to hit are always explained, but of course they are during prohibited during kumite. Imagine receiving a mae-geri in the balls by someone's who's 5 Dan in Kyokushinkai who breaks whatever in his way by a simple hit. In real fights, I always go simply mae-geri in the nuts or shuto-ushi in the neck and the fight is over. What you have seen in this video about Shorinji is a little portion. They also train and condition the body like in Uechi-ryu and Goju-ryu.

I love this style I love the headgear. To me this is the way all martial arts should be practiced. Protective gear with live drills at full speed.
@edwhlam3 жыл бұрын
I think for kids, beginners and intermediate students, the compromise between injuries and acquisition of skill is reasonable with this helmet. The problem is that the size of the helmet hinders development of skills in slipping punches. Also, some partners ignore jabs because of the protection offered. And some partners exaggerate the impact of jabs.
@jaketheasianguy33073 жыл бұрын
Even in protection gears, you must go slow most of the time, this applied to even professional athletes

Idk in these styles either you're really fast with in-range feints, or you just get smashed. He's still doing a lot of feints to close in.

Besides, in Karate, you don't lead with the jab, you lead with the cross
Bending face forward towards a slow kick from a friendly opponent ? Good idea when it gets serious in order to get the nose flatened or worse & severe a broken troat.
