I believe Bruce Lee's elder brother, Peter, was a fencing champion, which possibly explains why he drew inspiration from the footwork, timing and methods of attack, counter and repost.

@@AidasRusa Are you sure about that? According to the Fencing Association of Hong Kong, Peter Lee Jung-sum (Bruces Lee's elder brother) was a world-class fencer and in March 1958 won the championship in the first Inter-School Fencing Competition. In July 1958, he joined José Marçal, Pedro Marçal, Reuben Lynn, and Hung Hak-yau on the Hong Kong fencing team for the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games. He won in round 1 but did not reach the quarter-finals,[3] while Hung became a finalist in the individual foil event.

Bruce Lee : phenomenal martial artist, unforgettable actor, great philosopher.......but, IMO, his greatest title is : the legendary founder of Jeet-Kune-Do 🤩
I am amazed how hiro Sensei makes such minimal movements to dodge the attacks.

There's one misconception I'd like to debunk regarding Jeet Kune Do. JKD is not a style. It's a philosophy. Bruce Lee's "style" was tailored by Bruce Lee for himself and not a system that fit all. Traditional styles are like a fixed armored suit that you gotta fit in. BL was against all fixed styles, he saw them as weak with limitations. JKD is more like an armored suit tailored to the practitioner. It focuses on what works for the individual with techniques that is most suitable for their size, temper, strength etc.

yeah i get it that his friends and students wanted to preserve his style but ironically they ended up going against BL's very own JKD's philosophy "to be like water". Take everything that works for you and suits you the best and keep evolving. instead JKD became a glass or a jar, they all more or less have the same stance, punch the same, kick the same, move the same. If anything modern day MMA is what he actually preached about, or in some sense JKD was the unofficial name for MMA before it is called MMA. i believe if BL is still alive or live in this era his fighting style would probably look like any MMA fighters today with their very own uniqueness, strengths and weaknesses, maybe he would be a striking maestro like Steven Thompson, or a grappling specialist like Demetrius Johnson or a well balanced fighter like Islam.

@@Adiarby13 If BL was alive today, I think he would keep it very strict, not blending self defense and sport. By that I mean, MMA is a sport that have rules that don't apply IRL where it really matters. We know that martial arts originates from war, and were meant to be lethal.

@@yourfellowhumanbeing MMA can be done as a sport or as a self defense technique, the only diff is either you are bound by rules or you dont. i still believe his style would still resemble modern MMA, it already can be seen as his JKD didnt look anything like TMA, his punches were boxing punches, his steps were fencing, his kicks were more like savette…which is modern too. i’m not looking down on TMA as far as sayin it wont work now but as we both know the world has changed. TMA is outdated for this era, even if we fight on the street we dont twist someones neck or gouge their eyes out anymore, we have laws. BL jkd didnt have the “martial” in MA either, yes he might fight “dirty” as he said he would bite if he have to but hey who wouldnt in a street fight? Rokas made a series where people from diff MA backgrounds brought together and put into a self defense scenarios. if you watch that video it shows that MMA is good for both sports and self defense
Much respect to this sensei but agree to disagree on some of things he said Bruce Lee never abandoned Kung Fu also wing chun is a principal and concepts system for close quarters combat it has cross counters and slipping like a boxer take downs and chokes similar to judo or wrestling kicks like savate or karate and long range but usually it's trained to close the gap to create a bride also in wing chun I usually intercept with my lead hand or foot cause it's closer to the target like Bruce Lee said he did not create anything new he got ideas from jack Dempsey Wong sheung Leung Fred Sato so on and so forth like Bruce said people get hung up on labels Korean Japanese Chinese western way of fighting were all human love Bruce Lee him having trouble defeating Wong jack man doesn't surprise me it was a one on one challenge it was not self defense they were both skilled Martial artist and young also there certain techniques they are not going to do because they got to work the next day also the law both Bruce and Wong did not know the full system at the time but even if they did Bruce still would of went out and met judo wrestlers karate guys and so on which is great because you get to understand the similarity and differences of system also the goals of each system in the end Bruce Lee other Martial artist or any proffesion are gonna find a way that works for them

strategy, intercepting, finger jabs and low side kick to the knee are form of conscious and waiting. i not implying they are not effective techniques.

@reidredd4154. You have forgotten Brue Lee developed JKD to end fights in seconds, not minutes. Thus, it is fair to conclude that JKD would finish MT or MMA before you can cry for mother.

Resulta extraño dado el origen ecléctico del Jeet y su creador, Lee que era Chino, más el hermetismo japonés, que sea materia de interés y práctica
You need to get your history facts Bruce Lee started training in Wing Chun at the age of 13 until he turned 18 years of age Then he came back to the United States
