Good day. I am writing to you from Poland. I am watching your channel with great interest. I am 79 years old. It is hard for me to walk because my legs do not work as they used to. I have been using your advice on how to climb stairs. It is about mentally shifting the weight of the body. (three points.) It really works, I climb stairs much easier. I am really very grateful to you. Now the question is where to place the center of gravity of the body when going down the stairs, when going for a walk, and when getting up and sitting in a chair. Warm greetings from Poland, from Kołobrzeg, a city on the Baltic Sea.
@HLXDxАй бұрын
I’m just speculating with this answer. However, when going down the stairs shift your Center slightly backwards and down to the side of the wall/railing in that way you’ll use more muscles than just walking down the stairs and stiff muscles are more forgiving that way cause you don’t have to stretch each muscle as much as not doing that

@@HLXDx Than You for Your answer.
@EtoStarheart15 күн бұрын
@@basia8032 I’d like to add when you’re rising from your chair. To make it easier, move your center of gravity up. Focus on your head and imagine you’re being pulled straight up when you inhale and get up. I tried it, it’s almost impossible to move if your center of gravity is too low.

The best 85-min clip on youtube. I didn't get bored through the entire clip. Naka Sensei has a very deep and all round understanding of how human bodies work.

what is the essence of budo as defined by you. Also how are they missing it? Can’t wait to hear your answer. Can you post a short video to visually show the difference

I have been wearing my belt this way for decades, and that's how I taught my daughters to wear it. Yet, sensei and other dojo participants keep telling me (and them) it's wrong. I'm happy to see that we're right after all.

On wich minute of the video is he talking About the belt?
To be honest, as much as I like Leena I expected her to be a hard to teach student, maybe only because her joyful character. Yet I was deeply surprised how good and disciplined student she actually is, even though I've seen her already in several other videos on the Kuro-Obi World channel. As for Sensei Naka - I already know he's from a different planet, he's one of my all-time favorite and I wish I had a Sensei even half like him around to train with. For now I'm grateful for having some decent teachers who are like 1/4 or less, and I still feel grateful for this and blessed that I can learn from Sensei Naka on this channel and a few others. Thank you!

She cracked me up when she said "ive mastered alot today". Naka Sensei's face was like "uhh right". Lmao
Another reason for the foot gliding on the floor... In Chinese this is called "tang ni bu", or mud stepping step, as if you're stepping right on top of the surface of the mud without picking up your foot. The intuition behind this is back in the day, paved roads were not common, it was rocks and gravel and you needed to use this kind of step to prevent yourself from tripping. You feel the floor with the bottom of your feet

Sensei Naka has taught me stuff like gravity that I wish i had known 20years ago instead of focusing only on strength and spead. Sensei Naka shows how important center gravity, body bones and posture can increase power and strength in your punches if applied correctly. I'm so amazed. Thank you sensei Naka. You an amazing teacher. From Australia
Naka Sensei sharing the results of his researches is always mind-blowing and with the subtitles, which are also quite a job, it is really a wonderful gift you are giving us. Thank you very much from France, I wish all the Kuro Obi World team the best for the end of this year and the next one.

Beginners forget how important the breath and posture are, I studied Traditional Karate for over 10 years and it was always drummed into to you to respect and pay close attention to tradition etc. It was repetitive and seemed boring at times, but your body learned through muscle memory and as I progressed and did other martial art styles how those early years set me up and made my transition to other styles easier. Traditional styles do have their place in this competitive and instant gratification world. Peace

I figured out why some people might think of this as charlatanry. The translation and words are not what westerners like me would them expect them to be. Maybe there is no 100% right translation for some of the concepts but "center of gravity" always throws me a bit of. Interesting stuff never the less. Now I want to take up karate again.
