Shawn Michaels vs Kurt Angle was one of those matches that i always wanted to see happen but i wasn't sure if it was ever going to but when it was announced that they were going to face each other at Wrestlemania 21, i was absolutely excited to see it happen and i knew they were going to deliver in a big way but i never realised that they would go above & beyond. The greatest wrestler of the 90s vs the greatest wrestler of the 00s, it was unbelievable and i remember me and my friend (RIP) being completely blown by how good it was. I'll never forget how much we were on the edge of our seats when Angle had HBK in the anklelock in the centre of the ring for what seemed like an eternity before eventually tapping out, without a doubt the best match of the entire show from two of the best wrestlers to ever step into the ring.

Wrestlemania 21 was the first wrestlemania I got to watch relatively close to the event, having got into wrestling right after Wrestlemania 20, and this match blew my mind at the time. It was so novel because it was an inter-brand "dream match" which was pretty rare at that time because the brand split was still pretty seriously enforced, so seeing Shawn Michaels on Smackdown was such a big deal to us (we only had an antenna so we could only watch Smackdown back then) They just paced this match out perfectly, it felt like the most important thing in the world at the time, and they did so much unique stuff, like I loved the Short Arm Scissors as a move after that match,and that angle slam into the post, and that counter sequence from Angle Slam > Superkick > Ankle Lock felt like something out of a video game, such a great sequence.

Not to take anything away from Kurt he was absolutely phenomenal, but HBK could make a match look good with almost anyone. It's really a testament to how good Michaels was. All his WM matches were pretty top notch. The Iron Man match, both matches with Undertaker, the triple threat with Benoit and HHH, the match with Jericho, and his match with Flair. I always think of how amazing it would've been to see HBK go against Eddie Guerrero. Would've been magic.
