You'd never guess that little bitty apartment and homey restaurant would be a place you could find someone like Kurt Cobain hanging out in. I actually love that little apartment he had. I always had a preference for small places. It just always feels more like home to me for some reason. I love the outside of that apartment too. Me 2. Idk if it's cause of that age, growing up into young adults maybe all and then some but I never got why my elders would talk about elvis, Beatles, etc and just go crazy. I was like yeah but what's the bug deal. Then summer 91 and Nevermind drops and I got it. I know what the big deal was. Ppl born after 2000 have no idea how simple life was then compared to now. I used to work at Mr. Pizza (Damiano) across the street from Canter's and we delivered to Kurt and Courtney many times at 3 am, mainly cheese pizzas and garlic breads. They were good tippers and one time Krist came to the door in a speedo. So that was fun.

He wrote most of "In Utero" in the closet on the top floor of the Alta Loma Terrace house that you recently informed us will be getting demolished sadly. While him and Courtney lived in the Alta Loma Terrace house Patty Schemel the girl who was friends with Kurt and was almost the drummer for Nirvana but ended up becoming the drummer for Hole also lived with them at the Alta Loma house for a while and in her documentary called "Hit So Hard" she talked about how when they lived together at that house that she stayed in one bedroom on the top floor and Kurt and Courtney stayed in the other bedroom on the top floor and how Kurt wrote most of "In Utero" in the closet that was between the two bedrooms on the top floor at that house.

if anyone knows the story of Marc Canter's relationship as the 'first' roadie for Guns N Roses, there was a YT vid (that's gone) where the KFC at W 3rd (which is still standing today), Marc "met" Slash when he found Slash trying to STEAL his bike at the KFC entrance. Instead of kicking his ass, Marc was calm, got into a conversation why he was stealing his bike ("for fun") and befriended Slash in the process. Almost every L.A rock band goes to Canter's.
