She has one of the best female rock vocals ever. Raw. Emotional. Real. Live. Powerful. Sweet. Sour. Angry. Broken. Bitter. Its perfect and for the non agreed an opinion on it is fine for balanced dualism. Her entire presence is a female version of kurt. They were two peas in a pod. She has more respect for risk taking and improvising.

@@HGZMO Courtney has one of best female rock vocals? I suppose you never hear Kat Bjelland before. She’s everything Courtney wishes she was and stole everything she could get from her, including her hair and dress style.

@@Factory_Muff I will say, I dig the both of them. I listened to and had my copy of the babes in toy land record and loved it. 94-96ish is when I was a kid and fan. I also got to see L7 in 96 at the Roxy in Atlanta and was blown away by the entire band and power of the beauty process album and tour. They opened for the offspring and won the evening, even though I was not expecting them to go in so hard and rIval the great things that made up the SMASH album and set list.

If kurt had stuck around more, maybe they would have found that out and gone their separate ways. People fall in and out of love. I don't think that courtney 'ruined' him, I just think they both and many problems on their own and that didn't help. Again, you can't help who you fall in love with.

I've seen so many people debate the Kurt/Courtney thing, but I lived through this (no pun intended) whole affair, I was 13 when Kurt died, I wasn't a fan of Nirvana's then, but I watched MTV 24/7 in those days and when they were released I read Kurt's journals and started to identify with him. The impression of Kurt I get was one of a man who had many issues, but the most predominant one toward the end was his sense of being a failure as a father and a husband. His battle with Heroin was legendary and I've been through that battle. Despite what we feel, He loved Courtney. He loved his daughter and couldn't deal with the combined pressures of being a father, husband, rock idol, and heroin addict. When you are a junkie, all it takes is a bad day and a fistful of drugs to make you do something really stupid, selfish and tragic. That being said, Love you Kurt, Rest in Peace
@brimse8010 жыл бұрын
Very well said, it was the COMBINED pressure of it all that made him do it. Being tired of Nirvana, the fame, probably felt like a failure as a father, wanted out of the marriage and fed up with all the "you gotta quit the drugs now, or else" shit he got from everybody. I'm glad you made it through your own battle!! I was adicted to OxyContin, Methadone, Codeine etc, but have been clean for 5 years.

I agree with the rest, but "stupid and selfish"? This is for anybody reading. If Kurt was mentally ill, he can't be faulted for his symptoms. Nobody Doesn't desire an end to psychological pain. When pain can't be escaped, especially as a youth, it cripples development until it's treated. Onlookers whitewash it saying these people are weak without being honest with their own reasons for being critical. After all, blaming the victim helps people *ignore* harsh realities. Are accusers, then, hiding pain they ignore because they're "too weak" to toughen up, and thus project onto people who's struggles are more visible? It doesn't help you or anyone. Suicidal or not, if you're hurt, accept it and talk to a specialist.

This was just the style Kurt chose. He could have sang it in harmonies if he had wanted to. It's a punk rock aesthetic.

The guitars might be tuned to E natural too, as opposed to kurts typical e flat so he could be straining to get that higher note? Just a thought

Uh, his mic was turned up. Courtney actually has a more powerful voice than Kurt, especially when it comes to screaming and howling - which Kurt wasn't really known for. Kurt had more of a screech than a scream. Kurt has the better singing voice, though. :)

I'm in love with this. My unpopular opinion is that they both loved each other so much but being that they both battled with drugs... It made it hard to love each other at times. R.I.P Kurt, the world will always miss you
@dark2959 Жыл бұрын
Sorry to crush your "unpopular opinion" here but. I Believe it was early 1994 Kurt locked himself in a bathroom because Courtney was considering having an Afair because they would constantly argue and they weren't good together anymore. The song You Know You're right Is about Courtney and how Kurt Is upset with her and is angry. I strongly believe she pushed him towards suicide with some of her toxic behavior and the way she treated him. Kurt only started doing Heroin hard after the release of Nevermind in 1991 He didn't really enjoy the fame after he got a taste of it, There are interviews before he was doing drugs where you can tell he's positive and happy. And the ones where he's using he is mostly negative and doesn't appreciate the interviewer and is just sad he looks empty.
@dark2959 Жыл бұрын
@@nel9107 eh I wrote this 7 months ago I knew a lot less then. He wasn’t always depressed. Before 1991 you can listen to this radio interview from 1990 that honestly shows proof of him being happy.

I actually find Kurt's voice incredibly annoying here, while Courtney's is palatable. Kurt often sang his vowels with what sounds like an Icelandic accent or something-fucking drives me nuts. Courtney's is shrill and she has her own vocal quirks, but at least she doesn't sound like Bjork choking on a drumstick.

Daisy Collins How Dare You?! Courtney didn't do shit and you know it! Kurt Cobain wrote all of Nirvana's music. Krist and Dave added a few things here and there, but, almost all of the songwriting was done by Kurt. Women like you just can't accept it when the male in a relationship is clearly superior. Kurt Cobain was a one of a kind genius who would have become a superstar with or without her. Courtney clearly has some talent, but, she is not even close to being in his league. Nature takes risks when creating men and it needs consistency from women. That is why all of the most intelligent, athletic and creative people are almost always men, and women are just kind of mediocre at everything. You will be a lot happier if you can just accept that you are just a sex toy and baby machine. Leave the important stuff to studs like me (: ))

Why is there so much hate for Courtney even from people who respect Kurt? Kurt loved her and he had his reasons for it. Yeah, I've read she killed him, but that's just completely not backed up by anything real. I've read it was about money, but anyway, she had money. They could get divorced if not getting along. Anyway, even if it got to me, they were musically so similar. I always respected the music she made. It was too damn good to ignore. If you're into that kind of music, you just appreciate it. The music ended with Kurt. 90's ended. Something was missing. Anyone could play and sing like that. But somehow it didn't work out. Music either became tame or depressed.
@boredwithadhd Жыл бұрын
Kurt attempted suicide because he was overthinking and thought courtney didn't love him anymore. (because she was hanging out with billy corgan from smashing pumpkins. he happened to be one of her exes) That failed suicide attempt mixed with his heroin addiction led to him hearing voices in his head telling him that no one loved him and that he's a horrible person and that it's his fault. He believed that Courtney would be better off without him. He believed that Frances would be better off without him. He believed the world would be better off without him. He made one final trip to rehab as a last ditch effort to fix his addiction but after 2 days he gave up entirely. He escaped rehab and roamed his town for a while before finally heading home to his greenhouse and taking his own life.
@Adam_Lyskawa Жыл бұрын
@@boredwithadhd It seems like a very long shot and guessing what he was thinking. But the opiate addiction is... It's quite believable. It breaks people and kills people. It messes with your head badly and it must be really overwhelming when you feel completely powerless against it. Anyway, I wouldn't blame Courtney for it, even if she was a totally awful person. When you're sane you won't kill yourself. You wouldn't think for a while your own daughter would be better off without you. I think it's drugs all the way. It doesn't make you insane, it makes you temporary insane while you're suffering the acute withdrawal symptoms.
