Seven-times British champion motocross Kurt Nicoll reveals the machine he'll race at the tenth Anniversary Vets des Nations at Farleigh Castle in September - a fully restored replica of his 1992 KTM 500 factory racer. He rides the bike and talks about the machine and his hopes for the VMXdN this year.

I still remember my dad buying this brand new in front of me. After that we went to another shop and picked up a used 1987 yz80 for myself. I had a good childhood, love ya dad

Kurt just destroyed myself and the rest of the guys in the 50+ expert class at Glen Helen last Saturday. He won every class he raced that day. Dude was on fire for sure.

Greetings fellow moto lovers Rode open class huskies till 89, then 500cc KTM, went through three 500's, an 1988 and two 89's. Blew up 89 500cc at Carlsbad gp practice in 1992. Borrowed a 1992 550cc two stroke KTM, fell in love. I married/bought my first 92 two stroke 550cc KTM. Have twelve 550's now, all I have ridden/raced since 1993 is the awesome beautiful stunning brutal power of my built rock roosting rocket ships 550's. I thoroughly enjoyed riding 500cc two strokes, butt, my 550's eat 500's, 450's for snack food. Kurt, wish I could ride my 550 half as well as you ride!!!! Thank you for all you have done to the sport of off road dirt bike riding/racing! Will be attacking Erzberg again, thus time with more sleep/rest.

What a Brute! I couldn't imagine what skill it'd take to competitively race a KTM 500 2t let alone ride it around the track without launching into another dimension on every corner, jump face, straight stretch and whoop section. I remember making the switch from a 125 to 250 2t in 2001 and I thought that was intimidating... never saw one of these 500cc monsters at the track apparently. My hats off to this Champ!

Looks beautiful and sounds crispy as hell. My daily driver is a 1995 CR250r I use it for everything. JDay Off-road, NETRA, 6hr and 24hr races, a little moto, and lots of free riding. I have an '84 CR250r as a backup. Old bikes rule. At 53 years old, I feel right at home on my dirt scooters.

Aesthetically I like how the gas tanks molds around the top part of the seat, even the aftermarket gas tank makers of today can't make a tank that pretty. Also the shape and routing of the 2 stroke pipe looks sick!

My 92 kx250 is like a old rockstar at the track, it's extremely nostalgic for my gen-X friends. I always hear stories about the good ole days.

The colours on 91/92 KTM's look so good. I have a 91 KTM250, with a 95 CR500 to keep it company. None of the late model four strokes I have experienced feel as good to ride. Great choice Kurt.

Awesome bike, and same with the pilot😎👍I think the former Yamaha Factory rider Leif Persson rode KTM 500 's in 88/89, it had the biggest expansion camber/pipe of all the 500's.

You noticed that thing sounds nothing like a cr or kx or yz open class bike... anybody remember the old days when every different motorcycle manufacturer had a different bore stroke combination to come up with their cc classed bikes? Different bike manufacturers used to me completely different motor styles now everything is exactly the same and it sucks

In the day the 50 marazzi forks where are the s*** they were a benchmark for everybody even the Suzuki's 3 years later copying them which were showing forks which are still one of the best forks to this day I think this bike has six speeds which will put it ahead of everybody

Just completed full restoration of my 1994 550MXC and its done 2 hours so far..Its absolutely way way too much bike for me..Going to dyno it soon and already a riding friend of mine wants to put his CR500 Honda up against it..Somehow i think he wont have much of a chance especially if its a on bitumen straight line top speed drag.
