I was up there in the spring of 1991. It was beautiful. I still have a piece of lava rock from up there. My grandfather was in Napoli in 1944 when it erupted, they could see the smoke for hundreds of miles at sea. His ship got bombed by the Nazis and he had to hold an italian fisherman at gunpoint to take him back to his boat, because the man was afraid. Great video!

No, there's 15 active volcanoes in Europe. There are 3 in just Italy alone! *Mount Etna* _last eruption 2021,_ *Mount Stromboli* _last eruption 2019_ & *Mount Vesuvius* _last eruption 1944._ There's 6 active volcanoes in Iceland last eruption was in 2015 and they are *Bárðarbunga,* *Grímsvötn,* *Eyjafjallajökull,* *Hekla,* *Katla* & *Öræfajökull.* Vesuvius also covered Herculaneum, a much wealthier and better preserved city than Pompeii.

Aloha Kurt Caz. I'm enjoying so far watching at least 4 dozen of your vids. I'm a retired merchant seaman and have worked on vessels 34 years traveling abroad like you. I'm from Hawaii. We always tell our visitors to leave the rocks in Hawaii. When it leaves the islands sometimes the bearer of a pohaku (rock) runs into some kind of mishap. I don't know how it works in other parts of the planet, but in Hawaii it's a well known legend. But, keep on making them awesome vids. To end a mishap, one must send the pohaku (rock) back to Hawaii or one can throw it back into the sea hopefully sending it back to Madam 'Pele'....the Goddess of Volcanoes and Fire.

Actually active Volcanoes in area of Naples are 2, Vesuvius and Solfatara. Both are in continental Europe. The third is Etna on Sicily island, and there is a fourth one on Stromboli island. There are 2 or 3 more that are quiescent, like Monte Nuovo near Naples emerging in 1538 from a lake, and islands of Ischia again near Naples is itself a Volcano. In Sicily quiescent are the island of Vulcano (last eruption 1888), Lipari, and there are also dozens undersea Volcanoes laying on the bottom of Italian EEZ waters of Mediterranean Sea, like Vavilov, Marsili, Glauco, Sisifo, Prometeo, Enarete, Eolo, Lametini, Alcione, Glabro, Palinuro, Magnaghi, etcetera...
