Without getting any damage done you get a safe bonus, which increases the money you win in evolution tournaments(not club races). It's very handy in certain tournaments.

You forgot to mention you can also buy visual tuning parts. Like wheels, bumpers and i think that is it. And old cars gets more value as you gro throug the evolition. :D I have never saw such a details in NFS games ever since this one.

the old cars' prices go as what the real world is like. i.e. entry ones like 914 and 944 depreciate like hell and classic carrera rs is ten times more than original

Some of older cars cannot be bought if you having progress in career, especially if you're doing it too quickly.

Wait a minute...I just realized, but...if this game gets a remaster...they can straight-up add like another era or 2 idk how many more, but like...wouldn't that be epic? They can also add more tracks as well. Would be amazing to see the updated tracks that are already in the game (including the test ones or license ones or whatever it's called in the game) and the car models and just everything updated. . . . Except the game menus, sounds, and soundtrack. Those are legendary and SHOULDN'T be touched. Same with the used-car system since it's such a nice way to get money lololol. There was so much attention to detail in the game and it would be great if it were to be out again with the same handling model or the one from Gran Turismo maybe idk since this game was sort of more towards simulation rather than arcade imo. Still, it would be pretty mf epic to see a remaster or remake of the game. Only Porsches, but so much fun.

I love this game, the beautiful cars, the sounds, the environments, the fact that it has oversteer, understeer, throttle and brake management, steering management, damage and car setup, and a solid career mode makes it engaging and fun to play. It goes to show you don't need 100% realistic physics and graphics and engine sounds to make a fun and engaging racing game.

The dragging of the interface is the single most important thing i miss about in racing games. You could perfectly position the GUI elements to suit your viewing desire, seeing the gear the speed and revs. With nfs porsche save up early and buy various used damaged 356 cabriolets and keep them until modern era. Their value will skyrocket. The same happens with the 550 and moby dick

The best strategy in this challenge is to upgrade only the handling and not the engine. You can beat the opponents consistently and the cars are easier to control without crashing

Installing individual parts in Your car should be a thing still. If You don't know too much about cars You would have Packages/Stages like Underground/Most Wanted. But if I wanna put a fat camshaft with springs and titanium retainers or put a standalone ECU or cold air intake whatever... I should be able to do it. Recent NFS for example: elite crankshaft - what the hell does that even mean?

So many memories of which I wanted to talk before. This game, and High Stakes were my first two NFS games I ever had for PC, but sadly only HS CD worked. I still have that original CD of High Stakes in my home, but sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't So I mostly played a Russian version of PS1 of PU which I bought once in my city for like two bucks back then.

Maybe because I didn't have a choice, but I've beat this game several times using the keyboard, and it's such a great time. The one MFr that gave trouble was the 930 Turbo, until I discovered you had to increase the down force quite higher than stock on the rear. That and delivering the Boxster to the docks.

Is there any good guide to run this well on windows 11 with modern cpu/GPU? I always have a problem where either the aspect ratio is messed up or the text is messed up in 16:9, the cutscenes don't work well too, and the loading scene are too small

Try nGlide to play in widescreen. Works nice on Win10, so, I suppose, will work on 11

I use the glide 3d drivers. Works like a charm. Just make sure you're not using projected llights, always use vertex.

How mods do you use ? Only nGlide? I spotted even rims in 356's dont have ring with body colour and HUD in some cars are differrent than in original game (Carrera RS 2.7) PS. You can raise AI difficulty by editing .sav file

I used to do some low upgrade challenges in Porsche. Like not buying engine upgrades at all, or only install the lowest upgrades over standard. This made the game a bit more challenging. Imo if you always buy the best upgrades, the game is relatively easy to beat. Would you try something like that?

Did you manage to complete whole evolution doing this? Not saying it's impossible but still low end upgrades are better than stock but I remember when I was a kid, playing NFS Porsche and I would always finish my evolution on 914 Trophy (first in Golden Era) because I wasn't aware back then that you can buy upgrades and tune your car.

@@buak809 I never did it without any upgrades, but successfully completed evolution mode multiple times without engine upgrades. Also I started a playthrough once with the stock+1 rule, but can't remember the outcome. I also tried the no upgrade challenge, but similar to you I couldn't progress in golden era.

While it's possible to comlete classic er without upgrades, starting with Golden Era it becomes impossible, I remember when I was unaware of tuning options and at the start of 914 Cup I would like "Eh, another easy cup, will do it" but then I got hit in the face. Max I could reach without any upgrades was 4th place.@@hunearo

@@buak809 as I said, I only skipped upgrading the engine parts (exhaust, flywheel, manifold, etc). Everything else is allowed, like brakes, shocks, springs, tyres, and so on. The game is totally doable this way.

It's easy to win the game with no repairs since each car just races a few tracks. I have a good idea for a challenge but I have trouble recording the game. What software should I use ? P.S. When you get the same amount of points as another player the game will place first the player with the lowest total time like in rally.

Factory Driver made less sense in the PC version then the PSX versions. Sure PSX had less levels but they were all about driving, compared to the PC version's obsessions with 360s. Like why the hell are you suppose to learn how to 360 a GT1...which is a racing car? I doubt it will be useful on a track day.

it's downloadable car, and with use of mods you can make it appear in evolution mode OR you need to create new profile and then start evolution again and DLC cars (959, 928, GT2, GT3) should appear in evolution without any mods, not sure
